Mark stood fuming at the nurse's station watching Joey's every move through Melody's window. He updated charts, or that's what he said whenever someone asked him what he was doing.
Totally not spying on his girl crush.
He's Mark Sloan after all, or he kept telling himself that too.
"What are you doing?" Callie questioned Mark as she walked over to the nurse's station with a stack of papers. Her eyes followed Mark into Melody's room, "Oh, I see."
"It's not like that." He quickly cut off any ludicrous thoughts that might've been wandering around in Callie's brain, but of course, he was too late.
The woman with big black hair scrunched up her lips with a hum, "Yeah, okay. Who even is that? Her boyfriend from California? I never saw her as a cheater." The last sentence was more for herself to think over, not Mark.
The pair watched as Joey placed his hand on Melody's cheek which made Mark almost go feral.
"Joey," Melody's whispered from inside the room, pushing his hand away, "why are you here?" She couldn't wrap her head around it. Why was he here? What could he possibly want with Melody after she moved her life to Seattle?
The male doctor sighed, looking away as his heart became full of rejection, "I came here for you, Mel."
"I told you I was fine. I have friends here to take care of me after all." A small smile played on her lips as she thought of all the new friends she had created, along with Mark who might become more than just a simple friend.
Joey shook his head, slightly annoyed at how oblivious the woman can be, "Melody, I didn't come here as a friend. I brought you flowers." His eyes went back to Melody, who still looked confused.
"So, like my dad?" She snorted, finding amusement in the subject, "My dad used to always bring me flowers when I would get hurt." Again, her stupidity might as well be her death of her.
Joey shook his head again, mumbling cruse words underneath his breath, "Melody, do I really have to spell it out for you?" His voice slightly rose as he stood up from her bed, placing a hand on his forehead at her blindness.
Melody simply blinked watching the man pace back and forth in her room.
"God, what a dumbass." Mark mumbled watching the guy pace, "Is that really her boyfriend?"
"What do you care?" Callie said in an amused tone glancing over at her friend before returning to the window, "It never stopped you."
The older man tilted his head towards Callie with a nod, "Ah, you're not wrong, but it makes it more difficult for her to choose me."
Callie rolled her eyes and attempted to read Joey's lips, but she couldn't make out anything other than his facial expressions.
"What?!" Melody blurted with wide eyes, "Oh, Joey shut up and stop playing games. Why are you actually here?" She didn't buy his story, or more so she couldn't accept it.
So the next best thing?
Deflect.
Act stupid.
It worked for her in the past, why not now?
Joey groaned, "Melody you can't be this dense. I just told you I'm in love with you!" He shouted at the top of his lungs, finally snapping.
Uh-oh.
The entire floor heard him scream his confession, including Mark and Callie who have been watching the whole thing unfold.
The orthopedic surgeon's face fell, looking over at Mark who came unraveled, "Yeah, that's it." He grunted snapping his chart closed and barging into the room before Melody could utter a word.
As the door popped open, Mark grabbed Joey's arm, "Alright buddy," he started as he tighten his grip, "you need to leave. Visiting hours are just about over and you're disrupting the recovery wing."
As the two men bickered, Cristina and Izzie walked together through the recovery wing looking for their lost patient, but they came across Callie with her mouth wide open.
"What's her problem?" Izzie whispered to Cristina who only shrugged, walked over to Callie, and forcefully shut her mouth for her.
Callie stumbled slightly at the sudden face in her view, "Cristina-"
"Ah!" The woman put a finger in her face, "What are you doing? I just saved you from someone coughing in your mouth, or a fly."
"Ew," Izzie mumbled from behind.
"Mark is claiming his territory currently with that Doctor Joey Fox. Hot name, hot face." Callie sighed, pushing Cristina to the side to watch the two men fight as Melody attempted to break them up.
Her efforts weren't working.
The pair followed Callie's eyes and joined her in the show.
"I didn't know Mark was capable of liking someone like that." Izzie retorted, leaning on the nurse's station.
"He's hot." Cristina hummed, watching Joey's brown hair flick around carelessly. His green eyes which were filled with rage didn't scare Cristina off one bit. He had that kind of good guy persona that the women found attractive.
"McHot?"
"No."
"McJoey?"
"God, no."
"McFoxy." Izzie gasped, hitting Cristina on the side congratulating her on the perfect name she came up with on the spot.
Callie nodded, "McFoxy." She repeated, testing out the new word on her tongue. She was quite fond of it, slightly annoyed that she didn't come up with it, rather her roommate did.
The three watched as Mark dragged Joey out of the room, followed by Melody yelling at Mark to let him go. The blonde waved her arms around trying to get their attention, but she was only met by nothing.
They were ignoring her.
This caused quite a scene at the hospital by the time Joey was dragged out, everyone was watching, and even the patients peeked out of their rooms. Callie guested reality TV wasn't enough for the recovering patients.
"God, I wish two men would fight over me like that." Izzie sighed, watching Melody fall back into her bed with a groan.
