Settle Airport
Melody frowned avoiding Joey's gaze as he was getting ready to board his plane back to California, "Come with me." The man pleaded grabbing the blonde's hands, "Melody, come home." He whispered which forced her to meet his gaze.
All she could think about was how this friends with benefits produced someone so poorly. How she wished she didn't even sleep with him in the first place and was only his friend. Maybe he wouldn't like her as much if they were just regular friends.
"Joey I can't." The blonde said sternly, "I have friends here. I have a great job here." She attempted to convince him, to make the blow hurt less, but it didn't work.
Joey shook his head, "Mark's here, that's why." Melody didn't response only confirming his suspicion, "He will destroy you Mel, can't you see that? I'm trying to save you."
"I don't need saving." Melody hissed, starting to feel annoyed with the man, "I'm capable of saving myself. Let it go." Her tone became harsher. She cared a lot for Joey, but she couldn't replicate what she felt with Mark. He made her want to giggle like a school girl all the time. He made her feel like she was on a rollercoaster, always anticipating what's going to happen next. He made her happy.
Joey released Melody's hands with a sight nod, knowing he lost, "Okay." He mumbled as a loud voice over the intercom announced a flight to California is boarding, "I guess that's my cue."
Melody nodded, "Goodbye Joey." She huffed pulling him into one last hug. As she pulled away she expected him to walk off but instead he did the unthinkable.
He kissed her.
The blonde's eyes widened slightly and froze. She started to realize that she did miss Joey after these long months. The day he arrived in Settle all she could see him as the enemy. The man trying to break up her and Mark, and for a second, just a second, she allowed herself to kiss him back. As quickly as she kissed him back though, she pushed him away out of fear. Fear of what she had just done.
"Don't do that ever again." Melody placed her hand on his chest, pushing him away as the guilt ate up her insides. Her face was completely flushed from the sudden kiss.
Joey shook his head, his face matching Melody's, "Why can't you accept that you miss me? You obviously want to be with me. You kissed me back-"
"I don't." The woman hissed backing away, "Get on that plane and leave. Leave, for my sanity. I can't even look at you right now." Placing her slender fingers on her forehead in distress, she quickly rushed out of the airport leaving Joey as he shouted her name.
All she could think about is what she's going to tell Mark.

Sloan sat in the examination room on floor two of the hospital staring out the window. Little water droplets sat on the window like the usually did every week. His cheek throbbed in pain along with his hands, and possibly his heart.
He knew what was better for Melody, what was better for his friendship, but was he strong enough to actually commit to his decision?
A knock on the door sent him out of his thoughts as if clicked open, revealing a freshly recovered Melody. She flashed him a small smile as she wore her uniform along with her bright pink stethoscope that hung around her neck.
