Stumbling through the hallways, I finally found G5. I peered into the room, making sure I wasn't late or early. I walked in and choose the table corresponding to the science room's and sat myself down. I was drumming my fingers on the table until a familiar voice stopped me.
"Heh, you sure love sitting next to me." I looked up to see the guy who sat next to me in biology, Ray Evans, smirking. He sat himself down next to me, still staring at me. I looked away immediately as my face grew red.
"Do you want me to move?" I cursed myself silently for not thinking. Why do I have to move? I sat here first .Idiot! Idiot! I bit my bottom lip, waiting for an answer but as I turned back around to look at him, he was already dozing off. At least I don't have to move now, I thought, smiling to myself. The maths teacher walked into the class. Mr Dandelion, he introduced himself as, was wearing a singlet in the middle of winter. He acted buff and had a military style hair cut, in fact he looked the complete opposite of his name. I fought the urge to look away as he made eye contact with me.
"You! You're Bernice Young, right?" I nodded my head slowly. He eyed me then the person next to me.
"Mr Evans! There is no time to be sleeping now!" Mr Dandelion turned his attention towards the sleeping boy. He didn't budge. I looked at the front, seeing a now red Mr Dandelion. I shook Ray softly.
"Hey, wake up," he didn't move. I shook him furiously this time, hoping he would wake up. Everyone around me was gasping.
"She touched him!"
"Oh my gosh! She is so gonna get it when he wakes up!" He groaned softly as lifted his head and narrowed his eyes at me.
"What?!" His angry voice silenced the room. I hesitated before I pointed to Mr Dandelion.
"Mr Evans! How dare you sleep in my class!" Mr Dandelion raised his voice. Ray looked at Mr Dandelion and smirked.
"What are you going to do about it, old man?" Ray's words caused Mr Dandelion's face to boil red with anger.
"You," Mr Dandelion pointed his index finger at Ray, "I have had enough of you! Your maths is terrible! You sleep all day! Hell, you even sleep during detention!"
"Huh, and yet I'm still popular with the girls," Ray said, placing his arm across my shoulders. Making matters worse, I blushed instantly.
"Miss Young! Today is your first day and you are already in league with this delinquent?!" Mr Dandelion seemed shocked whilst everyone else was whispering, "I knew it!"'s and "told you!"'s. I threw his arm off violently and shook my head. I heard a loud shaky laughter next to me. I glared at my neighbour in disgust.
"Well, I hope you're telling me the truth because Mr Evans here is bad news." I looked at Ray again, catching him in the middle of rolling his eyes.
"Sir, believe me, I am," I said while smiling at the ego-eccentric neighbour next to me, "I don't like stupid boys." The class started to "oooh". Ray chuckled while shaking his head.
"Well, Miss Young," Ray imitated Mr Dandelion, "I believe it's your first day here and so you don't know my reputation here so I'll forgive you...for now."
"Actually, I know your reputation fairly well." He looked at me with an amused expression.
"Then I guess I don't have to hold back on your punishment." I looked at him confused then, all of a sudden, he grabbed my collar, and pulled me closer to him, so close that I felt his breath on my skin. I
blushed slightly, shocked at the sudden turn of events.
"Hey! That's enough Mr Evans!" Mr Dandelion shouted, "If you make a move, I'll have to expel you!" Ray smiled, and then flicked me on the forehead.
"Ow!" I grabbed my forehead, slowly rubbing it, hoping to ease the pain. He smirked as I scowled at him. Maths went by slowly, each second taking forever. Mr Dandelion was teaching basic trigonometry, something we all have learnt a few years back. I lay my head on the desk, accidently brushing my neighbour's elbow with mine. I turned to look at him, finding him asleep...again. I let a breath out as I purposely pushed his elbow back, making his head unable to balance on his arm and drooping downwards. He woke with a jerk as he pushed his head back up right. I snickered slightly as he went back to sleep. At the end of the lesson, Mr Dandelion called Ray and me to the front.
"Miss Young, I believe you had a very promising maths result back in Phoenix, am I correct?" I raised an eyebrow and nodded. I always had an A for maths and usually aced all of my tests.
"Well, that's good then because I have to ask for a favour. Mr Evans here," Mr Dandelion pointed at Ray, "has failed every time we've had a maths test and seeing that you're neither scared nor like him then its best if it's you. I want you to tutor Ray, every Tuesday at lunch otherwise," Mr Danelion pretended to sit his throat. Penelope's right. Mr Dandelion does make you do jobs that you cannot refuse. I groaned mentally as Ray grinned slightly.
"Well, I'll be looking forward to it then." With that he turned around and waved his hand.
"Mr Dandelion, really?" He nodded.
"I'm sorry you have to put up with someone like him but don't worry. I promise you, I'll reward you back!" He winked. I creased my eyebrows together as I walked away. Stupid player/jerk! Asshole teacher! I never thought I'd say this but...
"I HATE MATHS." I whispered under my breath as I walked towards my locker.
