Chapter Fifteen
Rose's Unexpected Luck

"Em, we're going to be late!" the Doctor called out.

Emma came hopping into the console room on one foot as she tried to fit her ankle brown boots on. She had her brown hair down in ringlets, a denim jacket covering a white t-shirt, and blue tights on. It was the second day seeing her like this, so disorganized. It made the Doctor smile in amusement.

Sometime after their talk in the library and while the Doctor was making tea and Emma was making supper, a call from the Tylers came. Apparently, Mickey had found something strange going on with a school in London and Rose phoned asking for help. So as of yesterday, the Doctor was a physics teacher at the suspicious school, Emma was his learning assistant, and Rose was the newest kitchen lady. All three of them undercover to survey the place while Mickey tried his hardest to hack their systems from the outside.

"You think today will be any different?" Emma asked.

"Only one way to find out, angel," the Doctor said, pushing the TARDIS door open for her. "After you," he grinned.

"Why thank you," she smiled and stepped outside.

The first bell rang for class and everywhere you looked children hurried to their lessons. The Doctor and Emma were a minute late in arriving. The Doctor pushed the door open and set his leather briefcase down on the desk as Emma made herself practically invisible in the corner of the class.

"Good morning, class. Are we sitting comfortably?" the Doctor asked giving the students a smile. He then walked up to the whiteboard and picked up a red marker. "So, physics," he wrote out the word in large and messy letters. "Physics, eh? Physics," he repeated and stepped away from the board throwing his marker somewhere on the desk as he went. "Physics. Physics. Physics! Physics. Physics, physics, physics, physics, physics, physics, physics." The Doctor kept saying as he leaned back against his desk and lifted himself slightly with his hands. He then took in a deep breath and looked back at the children. "I hope one of you is getting all this down. Okay, let's see what you know."

Emma rolled her eyes playfully and smiled, watching as the Doctor paced up and down in front of the staring kids. It was time to test if there really was something strange here or not, though, to Emma, all she could see was a room full of children who weren't really paying attention.

"Two identical strips of nylon are charged with static electricity and hung from a string so they can swing freely. What would happen if they were brought near each other?" the Doctor asked.

A boy with long brown hair and glasses shot his hand up to answer.

"Yes, uh, what's your name?" the Doctor asked.

"Milo."

"Milo!" he nodded. "Off you go."

"They'd repel each other because they have the same charge."

"Correctamundo!" the Doctor praised. He then glanced at Emma, who raised a teasing eyebrow at him. "A word I have never used before and hopefully never will again," he muttered turning back to the class. "Question two. I coil up a thin piece of microwire and place it in a glass of water. Then I turn on the electricity and measure to see if the water's temperature is affected. My question is this. How do I measure the electrical power going into the coil?"

Milo stuck his hand up again, but the Doctor ignored him to try and give someone else a chance. "Someone else." No one volunteered. He looked around the room, but blank expressions stared back at him. "No? Okay. Milo, go for it," the Doctor said.
