(Remi's POV)
I walk through the halls of Wellston. All of a sudden, a group of students come running in my direction, all of them have a panicked look on their faces. "First the Blyke, Isen, and Elaine get called to the headmaster's office, now this. What is going on today?"
I run towards the center of the commotion. As I turn a corner, I spot Zeke terrorizing another student. He raises his fist to punch them again. "Not if I can help it."
I raise my hand and shoot a bolt of lightning just in front of his face. "Let them go Zeke." He turns to me, a face full of rage.
"Ah, Remi." He growls. "You see the low-tier had the never to talk to me about yesterday. I was teaching a lesson!" He raised his hand again. I run to him and knock him off of the student.
"Well, lesson learned Zeke. Stop this. " I stand in front of him allowing the student to run away.
"Ahh!" Zeke screams. "What is it with high-tiers always hanging around weaklings!" Zeke shifts into his offensive form and runs at me. "Is he crazy? I'm ranked third in the school." I prepare myself to defend against his attack, but before I can, a red energy beam shoot past me, hitting Zeke in the arms.
"Ugh." Zeke groans and stumbles back. I turn back and see Blyke and Isen running toward me.
"You've got some nerve challenging the Jack of Wellston!" Blyke shouts at him.
"Get lost, Zeke!" Isen joins in. "And stop attacking weaker students just because you last to Nathan." Zeke grumbles something and turns to walk away. Both Isen and Blyke turn to me.
"Why did you do that?" Isen asks.
I stare at Isen. "Do what?"
"Why did you get yourself involved in unnecessary combat?"
"Zeke was bullying another student for no reason. I'm not just gonna-"
"We can't hang around low-tiers, you know that." Blyke answers.
I smug look crosses my face. "Just because blondie says we can't doesn't mean I will sit by and let a student be bullied by another student. I know Arlo cares for the hierarchy but me helping out another student does nothing to harm it."
I finish my statement and look at both of them. Neither intends on saying anything else. "Soo... what were you guys called to the headmaster's office for?" I ask as we start walking towards our next class.
"Oh you know," Isen sighed. "The whole fight between Zeke and new kid Nathan. Arlo talked about what we should do about it."
"Hmm, that sounds like a Royal problem." I say, then the realization bursts into my mind. "Why were you guys there and why wasn't I?"
"Um, well I," Isen immediately stutters and looks down. He really does suck under pressure. Blyke answers. "Isen and Elaine were called because they saw the fight. I'm pretty sure I was called because I'm next in line for King."
"But I'm Jack, not to mention next in line for Queen if Seraphina ever skips a year. Arlo... why."
"It's probably nothing," Blyke says. "Arlo does many things. But everything he does has a purpose."
"You're probably right. So what did he say in the meeting?"
"He said he was going to challenge Nathan to a rank battle." Isen proclaimed excitedly.
I stop in my tracks, almost leading the two of them to crash into me. I turn to them. "What, why?"
"You know how Arlo likes to keep the hierarchy in check." Isen sighs. "He sees Nathan as a threat and needs to be put in place."
