(Nathan's POV)
"Diana!" I grit my teeth as I finally see my house. "You will pay for what you've done!" I stop in front of the house and activate my ability.
No lights are on so it's dark. It's so quiet that the only noise I can hear are the footsteps I make as I walk around the room. I don't need Aura Manipulation in order to know that there are several god-tiers in the room. The air is so thick with aura that it's hard to tell where it is coming from.
Just then a dark figure jumps at me from nowhere. I barely have time to dodge. Just before I can identify them, they burst into flame. I jump back as they disappear.
"Damn it." I frantically look around. "They know how I fight." Channel Manipulation is a very powerful ability. But like every ability, I have my weaknesses. One of them is actually my passive. My passive is similar to John's. Like John, who can see a person's aura, I can see a person's channel. True, I cannot tell what a person's ability is. But what I can do is see a person's aura channel even when their ability is not active.
That is how I am able to tell how many people are in a room and how powerful those people are. The reason it is one my weaknesses is because if you know the technique, you can override it. If multiple people flood the room with their aura, my senses get jammed and I can't tell where people are. This technique was taught at the facility I was located at.
I look around the room. After a minute, I feel the heat of fire coming from behind. I jump out of the way as a flaming body nearly touches me. As soon as I jump out of the way, they disappear. From what I can tell, there are multiple people releasing their auras. "John would thrive in a situation like this. Surrounded by several powerful auras.
But like me, John's ability also has its limits. John is able to copy and amp up to 4 abilities. However, it takes him longer to mimic an ability with a high level. Especially someone with a level higher than his. Just then, someone speaks.
"Nice to see you again N." I turn around and am met with a familiar face. I charge at them, closing his aura channels. I grab them by their arms and shoving them back, pushing them against a wall.
"What did you do to my brother!" I yell. The face of Michael Chase stares back at me.
"Ouch N," He laughs as we continue to fight. "This is the first time we've seen each other since you left and you can't even say 'hi'." He knees me in the stomach.
I stumble backward, holding my side. Another one of my weaknesses is the fact that I have no range of melee attacks. I am only able to close off a person's channel, making them a cripple. The winner of the fight is decided by the person's knowledge and experience in hand-to-hand combat. Normally, the person I would fight wouldn't know that much about combat so I would win. However, I was trained in the same place as Michael. We both are experienced in hand-to-hand combat.
Michael sends a punch to the face my way. I lean backward and avoid the hit. Unfortunately, Michael kicks my feet off of the ground making me fall. He was about to hit me in the chest but I managed to kick him in the groin first. Michael groans in pain as I get up from the ground.
"We both know who scored higher in hand-to-hand combat Michael." I snarl as I grab him by the collar. "Now answer me. Where is John!?"
"Before I answer," He spits blood from his mouth. "You have other problems you might want to deal with."
"What are you-" Before I can finish my sentence, I feel a cold, sharp, object crawl up my legs. I look down. "Is this... Ice!" I feel the same cold, sharp feeling behind me. I turn around and see the dark figure from earlier. This time, I can see their face. It's a guy with red hair and glowing icy blue eyes.
I didn't recognize him, but that didn't matter. He was most likely another broken high-tier taken and made into a weapon for 'their' project. I was about to close his aura channels but I felt something cover my eyes. My finale and greatest weaknesses. In order for me to close someone's aura channels. I need to be able to see them.
"You gave a good fight N." I heard Michael say as I felt him tying the blindfold tightly around my head. The ice melted around my feet as I was pushed down. I felt several hands holding me down as another pair tied my hands behind my back. "But you're still too much of a coward to fight using your full potential."
I was lifted to my feet and forced to walk. I felt the air turn cold as I suspected that they had just taken me outside. I heard a car engine turn on. They forced me through the door of what I could tell was a van. Then I felt a slight pinch in my neck as a syringe broke through my skin.
"Don't worry," Michael said reassuringly. "It's just a sedative. It should start working in a minute."
"What do you want?" I growl.
"Who? me?" Michael laughed. "I don't what anything. Diana was the one given the orders."
"It's always about Diana. I guess that's where you're taking me." I grit my teeth as I start to feel my eyes getting heavy.
"It's gonna be fine. You'll be seeing my sister soon."
I don't answer as everything goes to black.
Ay, another chapter out. This was more for information about Nathan, his ability, and his past. I haven't decided yet if I want the next one to be more action or information focused. Anyways, I changed the cover of the story again. I like this one better. Sorry that this chapter was short again. I hope the next one will at least break 1k words. Welp, have a good day, and thank you for reading.
