After Takemichi told Hina how sorry he was, they soon got back together. Mikey had asked Takemichi to have a ride with him.
**Takemichi's POV:**
Mikey-kun is such a mystery. When he's with the rest of us, he's scary and hard to approach, while Shenjiro is even scarier-especially when money's involved. But when Mikey-kun is alone with just the two of us... it's like he's a different person, calm and open, as though he could tell me anything.
Curiosity got the best of me. "Mikey-kun, where are your parents?" I asked since it seemed like parents were practically nonexistent in their world.
"Hm? Don't got any. It's just me, Shenjiro, Emma, and Gramps," he answered. I was shocked.
"Wow! So, your Grandpa raised you! That's surprising!" I exclaimed.
"Me and Emma don't have the same mom, so we used to live in different homes," he continued. "Her mom dumped her off with me, Shenjiro, and Gramps about 10 years ago and disappeared."
I hadn't known that. "Yikes. Talk about savage."
"Our brother raised the three of us. He was 10 years older than Shenjiro and I, and we followed him everywhere. He taught us all sorts of things. Heck, he's probably the one who taught Shenjiro how to gamble," Mikey chuckled.
"Hey... speaking of Shenjiro, why exactly does he hate you?" I asked, sensing something deeper between them. Mikey sighed.
"A few years ago, when my big brother was killed, Shenjiro was there at the shop at the time, so they arrested him along with Baji and Kazutora. I didn't know how to react, so I did the one thing I knew I shouldn't-I blamed my brother even though I knew it was Kazutora who killed him. I was just so angry, you know? I didn't think about how Shenjiro must've felt, witnessing the whole thing. So eventually, we had a huge argument. Shenjiro cried and begged me to believe him, but I couldn't let go of my anger," Mikey explained.
"So I told him to leave, and he did... despite Gramps and Emma's convincing. Recently, he told me that he wouldn't have survived if it weren't for Dooshik," he added, which had my eyes widening in shock.
Shenjiro was going to... I couldn't even finish that thought.
"He seems really close with Dooshik, and he does seem happier now," I commented.
Mikey sighed. "I know."

**3rd person POV:**
"Everyone used to gather around my big bro. All the delinquents in Tokyo idolized him, even though he wasn't the strongest. Shenjiro and I would tease him for it constantly," Mikey told Takemichi.
**Flashback:**
A young Mikey and Shenjiro stood in front of their older brother, Shinichiro.
"How come all the guys like you?" Mikey asked innocently.
"Yeah, Shin, why all the guys and not the girls?" Shenjiro muttered, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Shinichiro heard him and smacked him on the head. "Heard that, you little shit!"
"You suck at fighting!" Mikey added.
"And you're girl crazy... even though you can't get any," Shenjiro followed up, his teasing as sharp as ever.
"And your farts stink!" both brothers chimed in together.
Despite their harsh words, Shinichiro just laughed. "Haha, you guys just don't get it yet."
Shenjiro grinned mischievously. "Yeah, because you're still in the closet."
"HUH?! What did you say, you little-" Shinichiro bellowed, chasing after Shenjiro, who immediately grabbed Mikey's arm, pulling him along.
---
Back in the present, Mikey chuckled, remembering those moments.
"I'm sure everyone thought they'd never lose with him around," Mikey said.
"Just like you, Mikey-kun," Takemichi replied with a smile.
---
**Meanwhile, with the others:**
"Hey Draken, let's talk for a bit," Shenjiro said, pulling Draken aside. Dooshik, Hina, and Emma stayed behind.
"Psst! Shiky~ come here!" Emma called Dooshik over, a mischievous glint in her eye.
"What's up, Em?" Dooshik asked as he approached.
"So, are you and my brother a thing yet~?" she teased, making Dooshik turn beet red. Hina joined in, adding fuel to the fire.
"You guys would look so cute together," Hina chimed in.
"And that necklace you're wearing... I'm guessing Shenjiro gave it to you? You know that number means 'I love you forever,' right?" Emma teased, causing Dooshik's blush to deepen.
Dooshik, utterly flustered, tried to explain, "N-No! We're not-it's not like that!"
Meanwhile, Shenjiro had cornered Draken with a very different conversation. "Alright, listen here, you tall idiot. I know you like my sister, so why don't you ask her out already? Before it's too late, you know... someone else could come along," he warned, his money-loving brain always calculating the odds.
"W-What if-" Draken started, but Shenjiro cut him off.
"Shut up! She loves your bald-headed ass, okay? And since I'm giving you my blessing, you better make my sister happy. Don't screw this up, or I'll charge you interest," Shenjiro said, his eyes narrowing as if he were about to write up a contract.
Draken nodded nervously.
---
Meanwhile, Dooshik was still trying to convince Emma and Hina that there was nothing romantic going on between him and Shenjiro.
"Yo, Shiky, let's go. We've got business to handle," Shenjiro called out, tugging on Dooshik's jacket.
"Yes!" Dooshik responded a bit too quickly, earning him a puzzled look from Shenjiro.
"Why are you so jumpy?" Shenjiro asked suspiciously.
"N-Nothing! Let's just go!" Dooshik stammered.
They bid farewell to their friends. "We'll be back on the 31st to celebrate New Year's!" Shenjiro shouted as they waved.
---
**As they walked away:**
"Boss, where exactly are we going?" Dooshik asked, lighting a cigarette.
Shenjiro, ever the money-obsessed schemer, blew out a puff of smoke and smirked. "We're going to get my money back. Priorities, Shiky."
Dooshik sighed, knowing all too well that Shenjiro's love for cash was stronger than anything else.
