CORDELIA

Chapter 1

" Hey, wake up! How long are you going to sleep !"Mila cried drawing the curtains aside, the sunlight peeked through the window sill and fell onto my eyes. I was half awake too lazy to pull myself up. 

" Just five minutes more!", I mumbled, burying my face in the pillow.  

" What! You can't be serious right! Come on, our vacation started!!"  

" Wait.. our vacation started!"I suddenly remembered that yesterday we had our last class before the summer vacation and we decided to plan for holidays today. I jumped out of my bed . 

" I just forgot!!!" 

" Finally!! Now get dressed , we have to go to Jay's house. " 

I was too excited for my holiday plan. We are going to meet our friend's at Jay's house to decide about our plans. I quickly washed my face and got ready and we went out. 
The weather was bright and warm , the chirping of birds and the buzzing of cicadas were welcoming the summer , the children played in the park, laughing and shouting and some already went out to catch butterflies for their collections in the bushes.  
We chatted and laughed our way about how early our friend Bonnie and Samuel  reached a couple of hours early, probably they were bursting out with excitement. 
We reached Jay's house, it was a large bungalow with a garden surrounding his house. The gardeners were watering the trees and plants, the sweet aroma of flowers and freshly ripened fruits mingled around the garden , there was a fountain in the middle , the water flowing from a carved statue. We went to the doorstep and rang the bell. 

" Who is there?" Mrs Blytton asked from the door phone. 

" We are Ava and Mila." 
The door opened and a gentle looking lady came out with a wide grin on her face. She was Mrs. Blytton , mother of Jay. 

" Welcome dear, Come in."  
We greeted her, she was always so kind to us everytime we went there. 

" Oh hey! We were waiting for you two. Come up."  Jay said and we followed him to his room. 

Samuel, Bonnie , Austin and Lacy were already there, sitting around a round table. But there was one more person sitting with them. He was a middle aged sober man wearing a jeans jumpsuit . 

" So, there are my friends Ava and Mila,'' Jay said, introducing us. 

" And he is my dad's friend Johan , a deep sea explorer and a traveler. " 

" Hello, nice to meet you ", he said with a weak smile.

" Nice to meet you too."  We greeted him. 

" So Johan, is the rumor of the sea of Cordelia true?" 

" Yes it is." 

" The Sea of Cordelia  is considered to be one of the mysterious seas of the World.. It was said that there is an island located at the heart of the sea and anyone who voyage towards there, never returns." 

" Is it true that you will be going there?" Jay asked him. 

" But why will you go there?" 

" Once when I was exploring underwater, I found a chest lying under the ocean bed. It is where I found a scroll.", he said and took out an old paper roll tied with a ribbon. He led the paper on the table. It was a map! 

"This is a treasure map." 

" What!! Treasure...map!!!", we cried with surprise. 

" Yes. It is estimated to be more than five hundred years old. This map leads to an island located at the heart of the ocean. It was not only about the treasure but there are said to be many theories and unsolved mysteries related to it which took my heed." 

" This sounds interesting!!", Sameul and Bonnie cried.  

" Johan, How about we go with you! It will be a nice adventure for our summer vacation! What say guys?"

" Yes exactly!", I squeaked, followed by others. 

" No, I don't think so I should let you come with me, even though I don't believe in these rumors but still what if it is really dangerous?." 

" But what if , it's just a normal shipwreck they faced,  probably their ships were too fragile or maybe there were pirates attacking.." 

" At Least let us know the truth." 

" But what if this is really dangerous…", Lacy spoke up.

" Don't worry it will be fun, and Lacy I will always protect you know matter what.", Austin said . 

" We will see that", I laughed at Austin's words. 

" Don't you dare laugh at me", he glared, trying to look serious. 

" But it can be dangerous to go there alone, we are not kids, we can be your help!!", I whined. I have really wanted to do something like this for a long time! I read only in books and saw in movies , how it would feel to voyage by ship over an unknown place.!!

Johan took a deep sigh. 
" Fine…  if you really want to come…" 

" Yay!!!", we cried.

" It will be our best summer vacation!", we cried unknown to the things that will happen which we can never even imagined in our life.
