Earlier.

I woke up this morning groaning angrily.
It’s the twentieth time my phone rang this morning, and I am not even exaggerating.

I pick up my phone to hit snooze, yet again, but I stop when I see my Mother’s name written across my phone screen.

“It’s the weekend! Why the fuck are you even calling?” I scream at no one before answering my phone.

“Good morning Mom, why are you calling?”

I said in a sweet voice like I did not just scream a second ago.

“Where the hell are you Andrea? I told you to call me when you are ready, it's 3 pm already! Oh my good lord, please tell me that you didn’t just wake up.”

I have to put my phone away from my ears several inches because of how loud her voice was.

That’s still something I’m trying to get used to with my Mother, her loud voice that can be heard several yards away, even if I’m just a foot away from her.

Just another thing I absolutely love about having my own place now, because she’s not seeing me put my phone on speaker, and get ready.

“I’m sorry I forgot to call you, I just catch up with some work-”

Lie, I just woke up.

“But I’m already done, make-up and everything.”

another lie, I’m still doing my make-up, I don’t think I even have time to brush my teeth.

“I just haven’t put my dress on.”

Well, that’s true, one truth and two lies.

Great.

“Just be ready in 10 minutes, we’re already at the end of the skyway.”

“Yeah, okay. I’m coming down now I’m already ready anyways, see you,”

I said as I am struggling to fit in my dress.

Why the fuck is it so tight?

  “Okay.”

and then the line goes out.

Shit. shit. Shit.

I didn’t even have time to put my make-up on. I just did my mascara, eyeliner, some powder, and lipstick, and I’m running out the door.

I step inside the elevator and as soon as it opened, I ran across the lobby and take a sit on the couch, as soon as I did, I see my Mother's car arrive at the gatehouse.

‘HA. See Mother I am a responsible nineteen years old, who knows her time.’

I then stand up and meet them at the door.

The Driver stepped out and open my door for me, I thanked him and as soon as take a sit,
my Mother said in a mocking voice,

“I saw you running from the elevator Andrea, and even if you could have been there a little earlier, don’t you think I wouldn’t have noticed how messy your hair is? And your dress. it is so wrinkled.”

I didn’t even have time to say ‘Hi’ to her or even hug her.

“My alarm didn’t ring. I accidentally set it to AM.”

My Mother then rolled her eyes. She’s not facing me, but I know she just did.

“How irresponsible of you Andrea.”

I didn’t even try to argue with her. There’s no point.
