Tonight was the first official football game Zed was taking part in at Seabrook High and let's just say it didn't quite go to plan. Zed was missing every shot and Nessa was feeling really bad for him. The amount of times he bumped into other players made her wince. Zed told her all about the agreement with Principal Lee which made her feel even worse. He was facing all of this pressure and she couldn't help him.

Half time came and Nessa was on her way to find Zed, he had been missing for a while. Then, she saw him sitting on the bleachers with Eliza. Nessa called him over so he grabbed his helmet, waved to Eliza and came to talk to her.

"How are you feeling?" she asked the boy who had a smirk plastered across his face.

"Great, I think. Better now you're here." His comment made Nessa blush and turn her face away so he couldn't see.

"Just get out there you dork. You'll do well. Just go for it Zed."

And with that, he gave her a wink and ran off to his team. Nessa went back to the cheerleaders and the next half was about to begin. She saw his slide his finger across his watch then writhe for a second. It was weird. It gave Nessa strange feelings in her stomach that she didn't like. Was he cheating?

The whistle blowed and the crowd went wild. All of a sudden, Zed was blasting through the other team. He got the ball to the end in record time and stunned the audience. Nessa couldn't help but scream and shout, it made her forget all about Zed's odd appearance. It made her so happy to see him doing what he loved and doing it well.

The other zombies were on their feet at the back of the bleachers, all cheering him on and supporting him. And some people call them monsters, she thought.

There were two minutes left of the game and the stakes were high. As well as Zed was doing, the other team were catching up. But, Nessa saw how hard he was trying.

Bucky was giving her harsh stares and looks whenever she cheered for him. He chucked his pom-poms on the ground and stomped over to Nessa.

"Vanessa, what are you doing? Why are you cheering for them?"

Nessa said nothing to him but grabbed his megaphone and shouted through it. "Feel that breeze it's not a sneeze, zombies score and run with ease!"

Bucky yanked the megaphone back out of her hands and said, "What are you doing?"

"Uhh, cheering. The football team hasn't won since forever. But we can change that! I bet the whole squad cheering together could lead the football team to victory."

"You know what? You're just like your sister. That... that whole idealistic kind of positive attitude has no place in cheer. So stop." he said bluntly, motioning with his hands as he spoke.

Despite her annoying cousin, Nessa was still going to fight for Zed and the zombies. Just a little bit quieter.

Nessa turned around and left the game without another word. She could see Addison looking at her so she spun to face her and asked, "Wanna come?"

Addison smiled and grabbed her hand, "Always."

They left hand in hand, Nessa still wondering if Zed went to look for her. As if by magic, he walked round the corner of the bleachers where the two sisters were about to leave.

"Oh my god, Zed!" the girl exclaimed, realising she didn't tell anyone they were leaving. however, she wrapped her arms around him and squeezed tight. "You were amazing! You carried that game."

Zed beamed at her then asked, "Thanks, but how come you're leaving?"

"Oh, yeah. Bucky was just getting on my nerves and I couldn't take it anymore. But you did amazing, I'm so proud of you." She finished, smiling up at him.

"I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Yeah, I guess so."

They separated and retreated back to their groups, Zed with the players and Nessa with Addison. But all Nessa could think about, is how Zed looked different than he did before.
