Jewels of Nature

CHAPTER 1

"FELIX! FE.......LIX!!! WE ARE GOING TO BE LATE!" Adria screamed at an unyielding door. Exasperated, the young 16-year-old pushes open the door and is shocked to see her twin brother writing in a book."Did you not hear me?" Adria cries in shock. "I doubt there's anyone in this neighborhood who didn't hear you," Felix says with a sigh.

Adria and Felix Christen, both fair, having golden brown hair, ice-blue eyes, and both of them were tall for their age. But at that moment, Adria's eyes, instead of its usual ice blue, were a boiling scarlet. "It's the last day of school, and thanks to you, we may be late and-" Adria starts complaining. "FOR GOD'S SAKE, ADE! It's the last day of school, who cares about detention!" Felix snaps still writing in his book. Adria, shaking her head, somehow managed to get her brother out of their modest house, half pulling, and half pushing onto the road leading to their school.

 A typical day in the life of the Christens.There isn't much to describe of their house, two floors, one kitchen that serves as a dining room as well, two bedrooms, one living room consisting mostly of books, a TV, two armchairs and a case full of school awards, music certificates, and sports trophies. One couldn't call their modest house fancy, it just had the necessary items that two teenagers needed. Even their bedrooms weren't designed for luxury. 

Adria's room consisted of a keyboard, a comfortably made bed with two fluffed up pillows and a blanket tucked in at the corners, one armchair, a study table covered with music books, projects, handwritten stories, and a laptop. To one side of the wall an enormous bookcase can be seen, full of stories, in French, German, Spanish and English. Her room also had a terrace, with a gorgeous view of the neighborhood she lived in. Her room was a beautiful violet, the ceiling was painted a night-time blue covered with glow-in-the-dark stars, truly gorgeous at night... 

Meanwhile, Felix's room wasn't very different, though it had its own charm. His room was a handsome Prussian blue with a painted ceiling depicting the universe. His room consisted of an unmade bed, an armchair, a computer, a study table full of stories, projects, and schoolbooks. A corner in his room was devoted to sports, as it was full of posters of famous players from the field of football, tennis, and basketball, equipment, and playbooks. Felix also had a view of the neighborhood from a window in his room. Both of their rooms were designed for comfort and uniqueness, and they painted it themselves.

Adria and Felix were complete opposites. Adria was organized, had talent in music, wrote stories, and was attentive in school. Felix on the other hand was disorganized, his room was always dark and his bed was always messy. He was the type to drone out the teacher's voice, even though he did well in school. Adria and Felix were both similar in two things, they were very interested in sports, Adria was more talented in athletics, while Felix participated more in games and both were at the top of their class. Through all their differences, they loved each other.Their lives were constant, with no changes at all. Once their classes and activities were done for the day, they both would return home, make something to eat and then retire to the living room to read and talk about their day till dinner, after which they said evening prayers and their good night's, they went retreat to their own rooms.Little did they know that from that day onwards, their lives would change forever.
