"Eliza!! Girl get up! You're going to be late for your audition!" I faintly hear my mother yell from another room.
"Hmm?" I stretch. "Ma my alarm hasn't gone off yet. I'm good," I say blinking my eye's trying to adjust to being awaken so suddenly. My mother came into my room.
"Eliza didn't you tell me you had to be up no later then 6:00 AM to get to the dance school by train on time?" She asks. I shook my head yes. I then look over at my clock and notice the alarm indicator was off. Did I turn it off? I thought to myself. No...
"Evie!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs jumping out of the bed startling my mother. Running down the stairs. "Evie where are you?! You rat!" I scream through the house passing my father who was sitting in his chair reading the morning paper. I slow up thinking that I might get in trouble by screaming through his house early in the morning. "Hi daddy." I give him a quick kiss on the cheek. "Sorry daddy. Evelyn Leanne Colby when I find you there's gonna be hell to pay!!" I yelled rushing out of the living room continuing my search for my sister. I stopped in the hallway listening for a sound when I saw the door to the hall closet move. I smirked. Perfect. I yanked the door open and saw nothing at first. Swiping through the coats Evie shrieked when I smacked her. I then pushed her HARD into the wall for good measure. Hearing her moan in pain made me smile.
"Ouch. Damn Eliza." I was about to punch her when I heard my mom.
"Eliza it is now 6:17am!" My mother shouts from the kitchen bringing me back to reality. "If you book it to the train station you can make the 6:25." She's right I needed to stop messing around with my dumbass sister and her stupidity. "I'll handle you later," I said giving her an evil glare. I shut the closet door and slid one of the kitchen chairs under the knob making my way to the front of the house where my mother was standing with my dancing bag and pants. I quickly changed into my sweats and threw on a jacket tying my sneakers tightly hugged and thanked my mom then left. I ran four blocks to catch the train to the city. I had just made it before the door closed. I kept looking at the time on the wall. It read 6:32am. Okay I got twenty minutes to get there. I take my ballet slippers out and start to bend them around a little while doing my feet stretches. The train stops and I bolt out. The dance studio was a half a block from here. As I make my way towards the building I see one of the ladies I know that works there taking a cigarette break. She makes a yikes face at me as I run into the building giving her a quick wave. I slow my steps out of respect so I wouldn't make noise in the hall. I pull on room door 252 to see that it was locked. I look up at the clock and it literally clicked on 7:00 AM.
"Please nooo. This can't be happening." I whisper to myself.
I take a chance and knock on the door. One of my dance mates, Shelly I think her name is opens the door. Then right behind her is miss Washington. I knew she was gonna give me hell about my tardiness."Well well well miss Colby. Nice of you to join us." She says loudly while folding her arms. I take a few deep breath's knowing that I needed to be nice to this bitch so I could tryout for this audition.
"Miss Washington." I smile through gritted teeth.
"Your late Eliza. The only reason that I am talking to you is because Shelly here opened the door before I could tell her not to." She says looking over at a now nervous Shelly.
"Look miss Washington I wasn't actually late. When I knocked on the door the clock here." I pointed up to it and we both looked at it. "Hit 7:00 AM," I tried to plead my case. She only shook her head in disagreement.
"You know what I say." She waits for me to repeat her saying. So we said it together.
"If your early your on time. If you're on time then your late, and if you're late then don't bother." I huff knowing this. "There will be other auditions Eliza." Miss Washington said as she closed the door in my face. I wanted to kick that damn door. I was so pissed to say the least. This was an opportunity to dance with a troupe in France for the summer. I was close to tears so I made a B-line to the ladies room. I washed my face, blew my nose, and made my way out of the dance school. My stomach growled reminding me that I hadn't eaten yet. I walked to the bagel shop grabbing a fruit parfait,egg/cheese sandwich and a bottle water. I walked backed to the train station observing my surroundings. Hey I had nowhere to be now so I took my time. Suddenly losing my appetite I gave a homeless man my sandwich. Thinking about what I'm gonna do when I see Evie's ass. Upon entering the train station I see this kid beating on bucket's using them as drums playing a familiar toon. I listened to him play until my train came. Tossing him a few dollars when it had arrived. Thirty minutes later I had arrived home, but since I had rushed out I had left my keys and cellphone. I know someone's home so it wasn't a big deal. I knocked twice and was met by my baby brother Eric's big smile.
"What the heck are you doing home so soon?" He asked surprised to see me. "Didn't you have an audition today?"
