How could this happen? Was he that careless with things that might go wrong?
Okay, maybe he has made one or another experiment on Tom. But it was on purpose, and he knew it couldn't kill him! The man's body was stronger to those things than the other guys, he had no option. His weight gain, constant sickness, and the random dizziness he gets throughout the day are some things he's probably caused him. Tord is not sure, but he thinks Tom may have stopped consuming that much alcohol and started drinking coffee because of it.
But this one was accidental! Why the one thing that doesn't happen according to plan has to go so wrong? How's Tord explaining this to everyone? He's so screwed. Of course, it would happen sometime. Maybe he can tell them he did nothing, they would certainly believe it.
- ... and we need to talk. - Edd's voice broke Tord's train of thought and made him whip his head in the man's direction.
Edd and Matt were sat on the couch, but Tord was on the armchair that Tom usually sits on. He wanted to be as distant as possible to the duet.
The green-hooded man looked directly into the other's eyes for an uncomfortable amount of time. He continued when no response was given.
- What the actual hell is happening to Tom??
Tord was surprised. He didn't think Edd would be so forward with his words. He was the type of guy to carefully choose the words to be as gentle as possible with serious matters like those. That wasn't the case though. The sharp tone of his voice was demanding an answer - almost aggressive.
- I have no idea Edd! I got into the room and he already was that thing. - his norwegian accent rising up out of nothing (probably due to how stressed he was).
- Then why did you enter his bedroom in first place? - Matt quickly replied.
Oh. He needed sound reasoning for that.
- I- I mistook it for my own bedroom!
- No, you didn't? Yours has a whole tech laboratory and his doesn't! You couldn't just get to the wrong door, you're not dumb! - The ginger, loud as ever, told him, standing up.
How did he know about the lab? He was so sure that no one knew it existed. Why does everything had to go wrong today? It's okay, he's just gonna make sure he uses the memory eraser on him, it's going to be all right. He's going to figure it out. (That's what he told himself)
Edd glanced at Matt and then locked on him, confused.
- What lab? - Tord tensed - that's for another talk. Tord. We know you're lying. We're not dumb you know.. - The cola lover snapped, getting up from the sofa.
- I have nothing to do with this!
- Tord! - Edd insisted.
Tord sighed. Why was he so bad at this? He's usually so great with lying! He can always manipulate any of them into doing what he wants!
- All right. Tom may have consumed something and now he's like this. - The red-hooded man was (and looked) so frustrated.
He tried to be as ambiguous as he could. If Edd knew he has purposefully given the black-eyed man more before this, he would kill Tord.
- Are you doing all this because of your hatred for Tom?? Because it's so childish! You're so childish! - Edd was yelling now. Every word painfully pierced his brain.
- Edd! How many times will I need to tell you that it wasn't on purpose?! It's not like I'm sadistic to the point of killing--
- What? Are you- are you planning on killing Tom? why? why would you do that..? - Matt interrupted them. almost whispering, his voice covered with some type of sadness, and panic.
- No! I would never do that. - not by purpose at least.
Of course, the norwegian had a plan. He always had. Researching how to undo what he'd made, producing the antidote, and then erase everyone's memory. Easy. The problem would be calming down the guys - and monster - while he worked. Even more important than that was calming down Matt and Edd right now.
- Look Matt, I know you're scared, - he wanted to be taller than the ginger so he could, at least, look and feel superior there. But genetics didn't really favor him, so looking up was it. - but I promise I will resolve all of this, okay? - his hand was at the other's shoulders, which weaved up and down with his accelerated breathing. - You don't need to worry.
Tord was a million times better at calming Matt every time he panicked about something than Edd was, even though the other worked harder. Long hugs were always what worked best. Some words of affirmation here and there and he would be better. It also worked to get him to do whatever he wanted easily. So that's what he did. Gave the ginger the biggest hug he could.
- No! - after some seconds of embrace, Matt pushed Tord off his body in protest.
It kind of hurts. Not physically, but emotionally. It was the first time this had happened. He was surprised. Looking to the side, Edd also seemed to be startled by that. He didn't know what else to do or say. This never happened. This whole situation shouldn't have happened!
- I don't want your hugs if you're hurting my friends, Tord!
- Matt!-
Edd got to his limit. walking past the other, he strongly held the norwegian's shoulders:
- Tord. Could we just... stop?
Tord didn't know what to say. He was so stupid. Maybe if he had maintained his voice low and steady he could have won the argument. But it was too late.
- I know you did something wrong to Tom. We know. - Edd glanced over to Matt, who was sitting again, dissociating away - but what is done, is done. Do you have any plans?
- um... yes..?
- so do your thing and don't make missteps anymore. Even though I doubt this wasn't on purpose.
The green-hooded let go of Tord, who sighed in relief. The norwegian walked away to his room, mentally cursing every decision he'd made in his life. He went to sleep, even though he was able to hear the murmuring behind his wall - in the living room. He decided he was in already too much trouble, so he went to bed. He didn't sleep at all that night.
