it had been almost one month of filming and sage was loving directing. she was working with a great cast, a great crew and her life couldn't be better, except for maybe one thing.
charles and danielle had come for one weekend to watch sage direct, chill for a bit and also to grill her about her budding relationship with drew
danielle plopped herself on sage's bed "so drew?" she asked
sage sighed and walked over to her side of the bed, making herself comfortable, putting her head on danielle's lap "ok, don't tell the groupchat yet or i'll never hear the end of this."
charles jumped on the bed as well putting his hands on his chin and kicking his legs back "go on." he batted his eyelashes dramatically.
sage laughed and pushed charles "i thought there might be something with drew, when he picked me up to go to the restaurant i was feeling some definite tension, but we've barely talked since we had that buffy night. maybe it was too soon for something to happen."
danielle and charles looked at each other and did a joint head tilt "you see each other almost every day and you've barely talked?"
"and it's not too soon, it's been 6 months since the break-up, which wasn't your fault by the way." charles added
sage shrugged "i mean we sometimes text each other throughout the week but he's not asked to do anything together that's not in a group setting, and when we're on set i'm in director mode so he's just another actor to me."
"maybe, and just maybe" charles started "he might be a bit intimidated by the sage franklin, actress, model and director and feel like you're out of his league."
"i am though." she deadpanned
danielle and charles burst into laughter, sage joining them after a few seconds unable to keep a straight face. once they calmed down charles continued with his point
"look, i'm not gonna sugarcoat this sage. you're an overthinker. that's not necessarily a bad thing but you tend to overanalyse the small things, which leads to you making the wrong conclusion, feeling unhappy and then you don't communicate which causes problems-."
danielle jumped in "i think what charles is trying to say is not to sweat the small things." she rubbed sage's hand, knowing she'd start to feel anxious "also we've seen you when you're directing and you wouldn't think you like anyone there, you're so serious and focused, so maybe drew thinks you don't like him."
sage groaned "ughh, you guys are right."
charles grinned, putting his arms behind his head in satisfaction "when are we not?"
