Emily woke up and found herself shivering from sleeping on the couch. She forgot to grab herself a blanket before she came out into the living room. When she tried to move, her body ached in some wrong places.

In front of her was a neatly folded up paper on the coffee table. She rubbed her eyes before grabbing it and opening it.

I had a nice time with you. Let's get coffee to talk about what's happening next. Mark.

The raven-haired woman instantly remembered everything of what happened last night.

"Clara," Emily said softly as she looked for her phone. The raven-haired woman searched all over the place for it before finding it tucked between the cushions.

Clara
Missed call

"Shit," Emily said softly. Emily's heart was pounding out of her chest. It worsened once she saw the voicemail icon. "God, I fucked up."

Emily quickly unlocked her phone and searched for the correct contact. She got up and let the phone ring as she tried to get herself dressed.

"Hell—"

"Meet me at the usual spot. I fucked up, and I need to vent to someone who's not going to judge me that harshly. My treat," Emily said quickly before hanging up the phone. She brushed her teeth and hair before finally jumping into her clothes. Emily's anxiety was at an all time high as she slipped on her shoes.

Emily was out the door in five minutes, and she arrived at the local coffee shop even quicker. The raven-haired woman settled on a table inside, right by the window.

Since it was a Wednesday morning, the shop wasn't too busy. Emily bounced her foot anxiously as she sat there. She was trying very hard not to start picking at her skin.

She was slowly starting to zone out when she heard the sound of the bells jingle, indicating that someone walked in. Emily turned and saw Derek standing there. No doubt, she was the reason he looked so tired.

"Prentiss? Are you—"

Emily didn't say anything as she got up and embraced him in a tight hug. Derek was taken back by this gesture before he wrapped his arms around her protectively. From the way Emily pressed her cheek into his shoulder, he could tell that she really needed someone to listen at this moment. He could practically feel the weight lifting off of her shoulders for a slight moment before it came crashing down.

"I'm sorry for call—"

"You call me for whatever reason, and I'm going to answer no matter what I'm doing," Derek said as Emily pulled back from the hug. She nervously started to pick at her nails now. Derek noticed this small anxiety reliever and raised his eyebrows. "That bad?"

"That obvious?" Emily asked and sighed softly. The raven-haired woman gestured for Derek to sit down as she went and ordered them both a coffee. Derek sat there and thought of a million different possibilities as to why Emily would be this anxious. He had never seen Emily like this except for the last time they met here.
