Sunlight flowed through my cream colored curtains. I rolled over slightly and buried my face in the soft pillow.

Today was my first day working at the asylum and I was ready to learn. The boy from the other day played through my mind over and over again. I wanted to know his name, I wanted to comfort and fix him. I felt a surge of pity and I sighed.

Throwing the sheets back I climbed out of bed. I cracked my back and rolled my shoulders. Going to my wooden chest I pulled out my corset and nurses uniform. I pulled on the corset and tied it tight. I slipped on the blue starch dress and tied the apron around.

I undid my hair from its braid and combed my silky hair. I placed it on my head and secured it with pins. I washed my face and dried it. Finally I pinned my nurses hat on my head.

Exiting out of my room, I headed down to the kitchen. I sat at the table and greeted the cook, her name was Greta and she was tough.

"Ere ya go." she said roughly as she placed my plate down with tea. It was a delicious soft biscuit and some of the best tea. She hated compliments and refused thanks. Greta was plump and always red in the face. I mumbled a thank you quietly and finished my biscuit and tea.

Lillian started my training today and I caught on quickly. With mentally ill patients we had to be caring and kind. But some nurses liked to hurt the patients, thinking that they could fix themselves in some way.

I went to check my clipboard to see what patients I would be helping. I began with an elderly man who refused to speak. Then I feed a young girl who had Down syndrome. I loved my job a lot. I skimmed down the list and I had a patient named Justin Bieber. His room was 319.

I made my way down to his hall. I knocked on the wooden door twice and opened it cautiously. I closed the door behind me and looked around.

It was the boy.
