Chapter 5:

Hazel:

I walked down the hallway and I heard whimpering behind me. Quickly looking behind me I saw Justin's eyes welling up in sorrow.

"Justin! I thought I tucked you in already." I said a bit stern.

"J-Justin wants pwetty girl to stay and give Justin k-kissies." he said sadly.

I couldn't stay with a patient, I knew I would be fired right away. And it was highly inappropriate in this era, people would get the wrong idea.

"How about I talk to you until you fall asleep Justin?" I said gently. He made grabby hands towards me and I held his hand. He flinched and pulled away mumbling "no touch" again and again.

Walking past the rooms together, I heard screams and cries of patients. All the rooms were dark with one bed. Candles were lit down the hallway giving this place a ominous aura. One man was biting at the bars on the little window on the door, desperate to get out. Every footstep echoed in this dark, haunting place.

Justin was wide eyed and moved closer to me. He shuddered and walked a bit quicker. I opened his door and set my candle down, illuminating the room.

"Justin... I can't stay for long." I said looking down. He nodded and climbed under his thin blanket. I sat on the edge of his bed and brushed his hair back.

I told him general things about me. And he sat up as I was about to leave.

"C-can you give me a kissy pwease?" He asked hiding behind his blanket shyly.

I leaned in and pecked his cheek.

"Have a good night, I will be back tomorrow to give you your medicine." I shut the door behind me and made my way down the hall.

I walked past Edwards office and he stepped out clearly drunk.

"Come here Hazel." he ordered. Before I could respond, he crashed his lips against mine. I broke it, and my hand slapped his face, before I scuttled down to my room.

I threw myself on the bed, feeling violated and embarrassed.
