ding dong

y/n heard the sound of her house bell ringing. who could it be? it was so late already, and it was raining heavily that night.

she walked to the door quickly, not wanting the person to wait for too long. she opened up the door only to see rindou, her ex standing right in front of her with his clothes wet.

y/n gritted her teeth. why would her ex be here? why now?

she finally was able to move on.

rindou just has to ruin this for her.

for a split second, she felt bad looking at rindou who was drenched in rain water. but she was too tired to show hospitality to him.

"what do you want?" her voice was cold as she lays her eyes on the wall.

she didn't want to look him in his eyes again. y/n was worried. what if she'll miss him more once she saw his eyes again?

"i want to pick up few things" rindou said, making an excuse. it was as if he's the opposite of y/n, his eyes gazed at y/n's pretty yet annoyed face softly.

his heart started to pray and hope. 'please look at me, once is enough' his heart whispered.

but y/n didn't even bothered to look at rindou. "take whatever you need" she leaned her back to the wall to give rindou the space to get into her house, arms hugging her own body.

"thank you" he said as he stepped into her house.

how familiar.

but the thoughts of this might be his last time here never failed to make his heart ache. he wanted to stay here a little longer, if that's possible.

but judging from the situation, he knew so well that it was impossible.

"where's my t-shirt?" rindou asked. y/n immediately know which shirt was he talking about.

"it's in my room" y/n simply said before she walked into her bedroom, opening the door of her changing room.

rindou followed her from behind silently.

after spending few minutes rummaging through her pile of clothes, she finally found the black t-shirt.

she used to really love that t-shirt, that was why she stole it from rindou. her eyes suddenly caught the image of a box stuck under her clothes.

it was a jewelry box, full of the jewels that rindou gave her before. y/n took the box, shoving both the shirt and the box to rindou.

for a while, her fingers accidentally brushed his. rindou's heart couldn't help but to beat a little faster at the contact.

"sorry" she apologized, quickly pulling her hands away from him.

"what is this?" rindou asked to y/n as his he opened the box.

"you gave these to me. you should take it back too" y/n said, trying to be as gentle as possible with her words.

"you can keep this. i don't want them" rindou said, handing over the box to y/n.

y/n pushed the box away, "throw them away if you don't want them" she said.

"at least..." he pulled a necklace out from the box. "at least keep this one. you like this one, right?"

the necklace was silver, with its locket shaped like a [favourite flower]. y/n remembered asking and pestering rindou to buy it for her.

rindou told her that 'it was ugly', but he ended up buying it for her as her birthday present.

"okay" y/n responded, smiling bitterly to him.

"i should go home now, right?" he asked, chuckling bitterly at his own words. he didn't want to leave just yet.

"yes" her voice was small.

"is it okay if i stay here for the night? i mean, it's still raining"

y/n's chest felt tight. why is rindou tormenting her like this?

if she asked her heart, she definitely wants rindou to stay with her. she wanted to hold her, placing her own self in his arms because it's cold.

without him, it's cold for her. it was almost unbearable for her to stand.

"please stay here" her heart screamed, but she knew she shouldn't say that.

"you have your car" was the words she managed to blurt out of her lips.

"should've ride my bike" he said under his breath. this was so frustrating.

now the two of them were outside as rindou was leaving.

"r-rindou!" y/n called his name as he walked away. rindou turned to her, looking at her face eagerly- he hoped that she'll let him stay.

"please... next time, don't come and see me again" rindou felt his heart shattered at her words.

she couldn't see him again. these months, where she stayed alone in her room, she realises that there's no turning back.

she couldn't be his friend anymore- she just can not stand the thought of seeing rindou being in love with another.

but at the same time, she knew that she couldn't be his lover after this.

it was far too late for that.

it was for her own good, because she didn't think that she'd be alright after this quick meeting she have with rindou.

"can i kiss you? one last time" his voice was small as he pleaded to y/n. the girl's eyes went teary.

she wished to disappear.

but yet, she nodded. it's okay to follow her own heart this once, right? one last time wouldn't cause any harm to her.

so when his lips and hers connected, tears couldn't stop rolling down from her eyes. it was so sweet, yet so bitter since it would be the last time they kissed.

sometimes, her cheeks feel wet from tears that weren't hers. rindou pulled away from her. he was afraid that he couldn't let her go too if they kissed for too long.

"i'm sorry, and thank you so much, y/n" was what rindou said to her before he walked to his car that was carefully parked in front of her house.

the last time she saw him, he was smiling softly at her, even though his eyes were teary before he gets into his car.
