☣Maggie's POV☣
I was the first one up as usual, and with that I went down stairs back in my baggy army pants, my white dry bloody tank top, and laced up combat boots. I grabbed my machine gun before I had left my bedroom, trying to be quiet so I didn't wake up the devils. Once I reached the end of the staircase, I saw that the front door was fucking wide open.
"What the hell?" I whispered under my breath as I switched my gun to my other hand and pushed the screen door open. The cars were still here, and our gear was still all here inside the house. I didn't see any walkers in sight, so it couldn't have been walkers. I mean, come on, since when did dead brained drooling freaks learn how to open damn doors?
But I heard a scream. And it was Ally. Ally was screaming.
My heart shattered and my eyes bugged out of my eyes. "Ally!" I shrieked as ran out back where I had heard her voice. She screamed out to me again once she had heard me.
I ran as fast as I could and saw that my little sister was attached to a walker. It had a hold of her arm and finally jerked away with a chunk of her jacket, and meat, in its mouth.
"No!" I screamed as loud as any woman could scream. As I cried and tears streamed down my face, I aimed and shot instantaneously at the walker, with a W on its forehead, that had bit my sister. Ally fell to the ground rocking on her back as she held her arm in pain. I dropped my gun and ran over to her side as I cradled her in my arms.
I looked at the flooding gouge in her arm and it made me sick to my stomach, to be honest.
"What do I do?" I sobbed as I continued to cradle her. "What do I do?!"—I screamed it aloud once more before I took a deep breath—"Maddy!!"
Before I knew it, Maddy was running outside with only her army pants and black sports bra on, and gun in hand. I didn't question it, I was just glad she was here.
"Oh my, God!" She yelled down at Ally and I. She collapsed down to her knees as she placed her hands down on Allys shoulders. "Why were you outside? Why?!"
"I-I-I saw s-something-g," she stuttered, slurred, and gurgled her words. I squeezed my eyes together, draining the tears from my eyes. I re-opened my eyes as more tears slipped out.
"Ally, why didn't you shoot it? You're smarter than that!" I screamed in anger as I gripped her army jacket hard with my hands. I tugged on her jacket lightly as my voice broke into a squeak once her eyes fluttered to the back of her head.
"Ally?" Maddy asked in fright as calm as possible. "Ally?!" Maddy grabbed her jacket and shook her. I let go and let Maddy take Ally into her arms. Her compartment belt had a handgun secured in its compartment. She could've grabbed it. And just within spitting distance, was her machine gun. How could she be so stupid?!
I reached over and unzipped the compartment, taking the handgun out. "She's going to turn soon." I croaked as I blinked some tears off of my eyelashes. I handed Maddy the gun. "She would want you to do it."
Maddy looked at me and down at the gun with eyes full of tears before she slowly took the gun from me. I scooched closer to my sisters and kneeled down on my knees, sitting on my legs.
"I'm so sorry, Ally," Maddy cooed. "I should have treated you better,"—she sniffed—"I just wish you weren't such a bitch to me. I wish there could of been a time where we could all had made up the bad times we had shared. I wish we didn't have to lose you like this,"—she continued to sob as she leaned down to Ally and hugged her—"Not like this."
I shook my head as I cried and then wrapped my arms around Maddy. "Just do it."
"I love you, Ally," and Maddy pulled the trigger. We all jerked slightly as the bullet went through Ally's skull.
And she was officially gone.
Before Maddy dragged Ally over to the spot where I would start digging the six foot deep hole, we had decided to keep her dog tag and jacket, leaving only her army hat on the post that marked her grave.
"We have to get out of here. It's not safe." I mumbled as I held onto Maddy's hand, staring down at where Ally will lay for eternity.
Maddy nodded in agreement and wiped a tear off her cheek. "Lets go. Get the dogs."
Turning away from Allys final resting place, I did what I was ordered to do. It seemed so unlikely for Ally to die, she seemed so invincible. But people surprise you I guess.
I went inside and latched all of the dogs' vests and harnesses onto their bodies before guiding them on their leashes to the back seat of Maddys jeep. I sort of stared at Bob for a second before closing the door on them, leaving Rex out to jump up inside of my car. I pet Bob on her head.
"It's okay, Lil' B. She's in a better place now." As I slammed the door shut, Bobs head cocked sideways and then she barked. I walked away to my car, getting into the drivers seat, sitting next to Rex who was panting. I took a deep breathe through my nose and exhaled out of my mouth before starting the car, and then honking the horn for Maddy.
She came out of the house with two other army duffle bags, which I assumed were Ally's. I stared down at my chest, lightly picking up the second silver dog tag I carried on my neck. I looked up, my eyes starting to tea up. Maddy closed her door, started the jeep, and floored it down the driveway. She refused to reduce her speed and slow down, for that she had just driven through the gate of the farm. I followed her and ridiculed her speed, doing my best to stay with her.
I took my eyes off of the road for a second to look at Rex, who had his paws up and over the door with his head sticking out the window, tongue flapping in the wind. Down on the floor of the passengers side, there were boxes of granola bars, along with cans of dog food and bottles of water. And for a fact, behind me in the back seat were bags full of survival gear. Guns, ammo, food, and water.
I plan on fighting for Ally as long as I live in this world with my last and only sister. I can't help but think that it is partially Ally's fault for getting bit. She's so stupid sometimes, I don't understand why she had left the house. There's no turning back now.
