I walked into school on Friday, and ready to jump off a cliff.
Even though the rest of the week did slowly get better since the first day, I still didn't want to be here.
I sulked over to my locker, opening it up and taking out my book for my first class. As I closed my locker and the thought of skipping again became an option, but dad was pissed when he found out I skipped the first time. Better safe than getting my ass chewed out again.
"Hey, Dean!" A cheery voice greeted behind me.
I spun around, a small smile already on my face. "Hey, Cas."
"So you're coming tomorrow right?" He asked, excitement in his voice.
I tilted my head, wondering what he meant.
His smile faded a little, making me feel a twitch of guilt.
"The party... you're coming, right?" He informed, his smile fading by the second.
My eyebrows shot up, remembering the BBQ party.
Come on, Dean. Get it together.
"Oh, yeah, of course! Well, we aren't busy... but only Sam and I are gonna show though. My dad's working." I said, shoving my free hand in my jeans pocket.
He nodded, a slight smile returning to his face. "Well you're mom is welcome to come too."
I frowned, remembering my mom. I always hoped that people wouldn't ask about the absence of my mom, but they always seem to bring it up anyways. And I'm sure she would love to come to a cute little BBQ, but I guess it's too late.
"No, she can't." I said, looking away from him, not wanting to tell him why she can't come.
"Oh, well why not? I'm sure everyone would like-"
"Just drop it, Cas. Okay?" I interrupted, trying to sound stern but careful not to yell. "She just can't come. And my dad is working. Sam and I will be there, and that's all you need to know."
I closed my eyes for a few seconds, trying to drown out the depressing thoughts in my head. When I opened my eyes, Cas was looking at me with an expression I haven't seen before.
"What?" I asked, a little inpatient.
"You're eyes are green." He stated, the same look still on his face.
I frowned, confused. "Well, yes. My eyes are green." I shook my head, what was it with this kid and random questions/statements?
"I think I like the color green now," he simply stated. "Especially the color green in your eyes. Never close them." And with that, he turned away and walked down the hall to his first period.
I stood there stunned. Not because he states the most random things, but because he is one smooth son-of-a-bitch. And I kind of love it.
