Chapter 1

The moon was full outside the open window. The curtains fluttered in the soft breeze. The moonlight glided across the hardwood floor to a figure sleeping in full size bed. A young woman of twenty-one with dark brown hair. The figure rolled from her side to her back and slowly opened her eyes.

Outside the opened window she could hear dogs howling. Leigh sat up and looked at the full moon with her hazel eyes. She had always had a fascination with it since she was five. The night that she lost her favorite uncle. The only thing she remembered was blue eyes that seemed to look into her soul and a full moon. Slowly she climbed out of her bed and walked to the window.

She looked out. The world looked beautiful and calm, but she knew that it was a joke. The world could be ugly and cruel. Leigh moved away from the window and shut it and closed the curtains. Turning around she glanced at her alarm clock. 6:00 a.m. I shouldn't even bother trying to go back to sleep. I have to get up in thirty minutes anyway.

Leigh walked to her door and opened it. As she headed towards the kitchen, she could hear the giggles of her roommate. Sounds like Amanda has someone over... again. The kitchen was empty of people. Leigh opened the frig and looked inside. She had class at eight and she still had to finish a paper. After grabbing a small bottle of Orange juice, Leigh closed the door and then opened a cabinet door. Smiling she grabbed the last of the granola bars. Quietly she made her way back to her room to work on her paper.

Leigh looked at the little clock at the bottom of her computer screen. She had twenty minutes till her class started. The paper was finished and was printing. Quickly she slipped into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. As she pulled on her flats, the paper finished printing. Gently she placed it in a folder and then placed the folder in her backpack. Quickly zipping up her backpack, she glanced at the clock. Ten minutes.

Leigh picked up the bag and head to the front door. As she entered the kitchen, her roommate, Amanda, frowned.

"You just had to get the last one didn't you?"

"Well I was up first and I had a paper I needed to finish."

"K. I'll see you later. I'm going to the library."

"K. I've got to go."

Leigh left the apartment and made her to class with two minutes to spare.

An hour later, Leigh sat in her next class waiting for the professor to arrive. Professor West was known for coming in early and Leigh needed to ask her a question. About five minutes before class started, Professor West walked in.

"Well, hello. Need help?"

Leigh stood up and moved to the desk at the front of the room. "It's a simple question. It's about the essay about the book we've been reading."

Professor West sat down at the desk and smiled. "Well ask away. I may just have to repeat it to the class."

"I was wondering exactly how many sources do you want us to have?"

"Well, you only really need the book it's self, but you can have at the most three other sources. And I will have to repeat it to the class. You always think of something I forget to tell you."

"I know."

Leigh walked back to her seat as the rest of the class walked in. She spent the next hour listening about World War II and the aftermath. When class was finally over, Leigh quickly made her way to the library. She had to find the sources for her History essay.

XOXOX

Sitting at a table in the back and out of sight of the librarian she snacked on food she had gotten at a vending machine on campus as she read from her English Literature book. She had found the sources for her History essay and had them ready for her to look through and highlight what she wanted to use.

The library was one of her favorite places on campus. She loved literature. Leigh spent her free time reading and writing. Most guys on campus didn't even notice her even though most would say she was one of the hottest girls on campus cause she couldn't be found at any of the parties and get togethers on campus.

Leigh's idea of a fun time was reading or writing not getting drunk and making a fool of herself. She got asked out, but she turned them down. For some reason no man, boy, ever seemed to get her attention.

After gartering her things, Leigh left the library and headed home. Not ever noticing the blues following her.
