Nobody's POV:
December 30th 1989. New Year's. The fireworks could be heard by miles. It was one of the most loudest days of the years, other than July 4th. Exer was at David's house for this New Years. Jackson and Ronald was also there. Palmada too! After long timeline of drama the crew was finally together again. The parents talked and talked while having some drinks at the table. Meanwhile, the teens were playing bored games while keeping an eye on the time.
"UNO!" Exer yelled. David crushed the two cards he had and fell face first into the pile of cards in front of him. Brenda, Ron, and Pamela laughed. But Jackson started protesting.
"You won like three times in a row! Are you cheating?" Jackson asked with a grin.
"Obviously not, it's luck." Exer said with a smile. Jackson sighed and smiled. Brenda looked at the clock.
"It's time guys!" She yelled. The parents in the kitchen looked and got up. David turned on the TV and turned to the channel where it has the count down. Everybody huddled up as the thirty seconds started. It finally reached to ten. Everyone started to count down together.
"Ten. Nine. Eight. Seven. Six. Five. Four. Three. Two. ONE!"
"HAPPY NEW YEARS!!" Everyone shouted. The joyful vibes filled the room. Everyone hugged each other. David smiled and than looked at Exer. Exer had the biggest smile and had both of his arms around Jackson and Ron. His smile brought a warm and fuzzy feeling in David. Butterflies started to form in his stomach. David shook his head and all of the feelings stopped. 'What am I thinking? He's your best friend.' He frowned and looked down. Exer looked at David and his smile turned into a worried look.
"Day, are you alright?" Exer asked him. David sprung up and looked at his soon to be lover.
"Oh! Um, I'm fine don't worry." How long was David going to hide? He was tired of playing hide and seek. He was finally going to tell the truth to Exer. Just not here though.
"Exer, there's something I need to tell you." David said. He tried not to get lost in his words.
"Sure Day! What is it?" Exer asked. David leaned in to whisper in his ear. "Not here though." He whispered. Exer had that "ooh!" face and nodded. David leaned back and sighed. Hopefully he gets to tell him.
After.....
David's POV:
After the countdown me and the group played another bored game. It was Monopoly and I was horrible at that game. Jackson however was getting good each second. But the game takes a long time to finish so we couldn't play it all together. My parents called us to the kitchen to eat the chocolate cake that Jackson's Tia made for us. It was SO good! I had to thank her for it. After the cake the parents were finally leaving. Exer's dad then came towards us to say bye to Exer. He wanted to sleepover and surprisingly he convinced him.
"Be good okay? I don't want you getting into trouble. Also be respectful to David's parents." He had one of his hands on Exer shoulder. Exer nodded and hugged him goodbye. By then, everyone left.
"Sooooooo, what we guys doing?" Brenda asked in curiosity. I rolled my eyes and thought about it.
"How about a movie night!" I suggested. Brenda was about to hesitate but nodded her head in agreement. Exer also nodded.
"I'm still hungry." Exer groaned. Honestly, me too.
"I think we have left pizza in the fridge." Brenda said.
"I'll heat it up!" I said as I sprung up and walked to the kitchen.
After the movie
"HAHAHA! Are you serious?" Exer laughed. He almost chocked on his pizza which made me want to laugh.
"Yes! I am, now clean up the dishes." Brenda stated. She left the sink on so Exer could do the dishes. Meanwhile me and Brenda cleaned up any trash and shut the tv off. I looked at Brenda then back to my work. I sighed. I wanted to ask her a crazy question but im scared she might question me. I looked on the floor not knowing what to do. 'Alright here goes nothing!' I thought to myself.
"What do you think about gay people?" I finally spat out. Closing my eyes I slowly opened them. Brenda was shocked. Probably because I asked it randomly.
"Oh well... I'm not sure. I mean, I'm not against them liking the same gender." Brenda said as she rubs the back of her neck. We took a long pause.
"It's okay if you're gay." Brenda finally said. I widened my eyes and immediately shook my head.
"What, no! I'm just asking." I nervously told her. She nodded slowly with a suspicious face.
"Okay..." she said slowly. Exer came back to the living room and I jumped a bit.
"Alright, I'm getting really tired!" Exer said as he stretches for a while.
"Yeah we better get to sleep. It's already 2am." Brenda said with a yawn. We all went upstairs and went our separate ways. I turned on the light switch and showed Exer my room.
"Wow, I haven't been in your room before." He said in amazement. I blushed a bit. I still get nervous around him. It's embarrassing. I closed the door behind me.
"So were you going to ask me something?" Exer questioned. I had totally forgotten about that. I was at this point sweating. I started to play with my shirt.
"Um, yeah I was going to tell you something." I said nervously. Okay! Come on it's time to tell him!
"What do you think about gay people?" NO! That was not what I was going to ask! I stood there defeated. Knowing that I will never confess because of my shyness.
"Oh that was it? Well honestly I don't really care. If you like boys you like boys. If you like girls you like girls. If you like both then okay!" He shrugged.
"Wait, are you?" He asked with a curious look. I shook my head.
"UM, no!" I blurted out.
"Are you sure? I'm not going to judge." Exer had put his hands on mine. I started blushing a lot but took my hands away from his.
"NOPE IM SURE! OKAY UH GOODNIGHT!" I panicked and jumped in my bed with the covers on my head. I heard Exer sigh and laid down on the sleeping bag. I turned to face the wall and felt like crying. Why hadn't I confessed? UGH! If only it wasn't that hard. I took and deep breathe and eventually fell asleep.
