Dominic

Waking up next to a mass of red curls and soft pale skin, I could feel a smile form on my lips. This woman had made me feel something that I had thought I would never be able to feel again. I had broken the vow I had made but I felt no remorse about it.

Reaching out, I laid a hand on her shoulder and gently shook her. Her eyelids fluttered against her cheeks but otherwise remained closed.

"Acacia." I gently shook her again.

Once again, she didn't wake. Sitting up, I leaned over and looked at her more closely. Her skin had a slight green pallor to it, and for the first time, I noticed that her breathing was shallow and labored. Pressing my ear to her chest, I listen to the frantic thumping of her heart.

"Fuck." I cursed, quickly getting off of the bed and going around to her side where her wound was. Upon inspection, I saw that thin tendrils of an almost black green spread out from the bite, like veins. In an instant, I knew that she had been poisoned.

Cursing again under my breath, I slid onto the bed beside her, pulling her onto my lap slowly as not to cause her any more pain. There was only one way I knew of that could fight off poison of demonic origin. A demon's blood. Sharing blood was a very intimate act, and not one that I was sure I was fine with doing.

I peered down at her face. She looked so peaceful despite the venom tearing through her body, destroying her from the inside out. Any hesitation I had vanished in an instant. I needed to save her. Bringing my wrist to my mouth, I allowed my teeth to sharpen to points before tearing open my own flesh, black colored blood pouring from the wound. Careful not to bleed all over Acacia as I moved, I lowered my wrist and held it to her lips.

She suckled at the blood like a newborn pup, her lips turning black as the blood stained them. I watched with relief as the green color that her skin had been, let way to her usual healthy glow, the black tendrils that had been branching out from her wound, retreating.

A strange feeling built up inside me and suddenly, everything went black.

Flames licked at my heels, yet did not burn. I looked around, unsure of where I was. Tall black mountains, so tall, the tops vanished into the blood red clouds that covered the entire sky. From out into the distance, I could hear screams. Tortured screams.

"Holy shit." I gasped, "I'm in Hell."

As if to confirm what I had said, a trio of demons strode by. Unlike Dominic, they were not in the guise of a human. Standing at 7 feet tall, skin purely black, eyes glowing red, they had long spiked tails and spiraling horns sprouting from their skulls. They were truly magnificent and terrifying creatures.

I expected them to stop at the sight of me and to attack, but they merely continue on their path, like they had not seen me. I then realized that they actually could not see me. I was invisible. What the hell?

"The chief's bitch is being executed today." One growled to the others.

"The whore deserves it." Another growled, "Spreading her legs for someone other than the chief."

"I wouldn't have passed up a piece of that ass, had I gotten the chance, though, I tell ya. It's almost a shame that such a fine piece of meat is being executed."

The three of them chuckled, a low, grating sound.

I felt the need to follow them, so I did. They led me through a long tunnel, dark, except for small glowing crystals that lined the walls. I was awed at how beautiful they were, jutting out from the tunnel walls, glowing with an ethereal light from within.
