Dominic stood frozen, the spheres of fire dying in his hands.

The demon laughed again, its laughter grating. "After that whore was beheaded and you were cast out, Belial let us have our fun with her corpse. She was a great piece of fuck meat, even dead."

"No!" Dominic roared, charging at the demon. He yanked a knife from his pants and tried slashing at the amused demon, who swiped Dominic against the wall effortlessly. The impact caused his body to smash into the plaster. He slumped against the wall for a mere second before getting on his feet again.

Without so much as a millisecond of hesitation, he charged the demon again. The knife in his hand burst into flames that burned white hot as Dominic transformed from his purely human form into that lethal, dangerously sexy half demon form. He roared, fangs bared, eyes black.

The demon roared back and struck out at Dominic, who dodged its hand, ducking under its arm and slicing at its side. The fiery blade cut through its flesh like butter, black blood instantly spewing from the wound. The demon roared in pain as Dominic went in for another slice, this time using his own claws. They raked across its chest with a wet ripping sound that made me cringe.

Turning away from the battle, I turned my focus to Marie again. With every hit that the demon took, the more her straight form slumped. Her normally rosy hued cheeks were pale and growing gaunter looking by the minute. If this kept up, it would take the very life out of her.

At that moment, I hatched a plan. Keeping my eyes on her to make sure that she was not paying any attention to me, I began twisting my wrists and working on pulling them out of the rope. I was going to have some pretty nasty rope burn after this.

Clenching my teeth to keep from crying out, I finally pulled a wrist free, followed by the other, the skin rubbed raw and bloodied. Taking a second to make sure that Marie's attention was elsewhere, I began working on the rope around my waist and ankles. The bitch sucked at tying knots.

My head snapped to the side as the left side of my face erupted into a hard stinging. She must have finally noticed what I was doing. The ropes slid loose and fell to the ground at my feet. Before thinking, I launched myself at Marie, tackling her to the ground. A grunt of pain escaped from her as her petite body hit the hard ground, crushed under mine. Her skull thudded as it made impact.

Straddling her, I pulled my right arm back and then buried my fist into her face. Her lips moved as she tried to murmur a spell but I ended it by burying yet another fist into her jaw. The blade she'd cut me with earlier slid from her hand and clattered onto the ground. I reached out to pick it up.

"Acacia!"

Dominic's warning came almost a second too late as the demon's claws connected with my side, knocking me off of Marie and ten feet across the room. Praying to whatever god there was that all internal organs had been missed by those festering claws; I clenched my teeth together and forced myself to get onto my hands and knees.

The demon was standing over me, waiting for me to get back up. Marie was sitting up, wearing a smirk.

"Is this your new bitch, Dominic?" Its eyes slid over me, making me spit in disgust, "She'd make a good bite for Belial's hounds. All that meat."

Dominic growled, "Leave her alone and fight me you piece of shit!"

Chuckling, the demon glanced once more at me before turning to Marie, "I won't save your ass again you pathetic little witch." He then turned his attention back to his opponent.

I saw Dominic look over at me with worry. I shook my head at him. He needed to defeat that demon as soon as possible, not waste time worrying over me. Clenching his jaw, he set his sights back his long time enemy.

Grimacing, I clutched at the slashes marring my side. Blood seeped through my fingers, hot and sticky. Something impacted with the right side of my head, knocking me back down to the ground and causing me to see dots. Once they cleared, I looked up to see Marie standing over me with a shovel.

Her grin was nothing short of psychotic as she peered back at me, her brown eyes wide with delight. "This was meant to be used to bury your corpse when I was done with you. I guess it's fitting that it be used to kill you too."

"Bitch", I hissed between clenched teeth, trying to ignore the intense headache I now had. Her grin got even bigger and even more psychotic, if that was even possible, "Thanks."

"That wasn't a compliment."

"Well I will still take it as one!", she shouted, swinging the shovel at me again. Without a second of hesitation and before my mind could even register what I was doing, I caught the shovel in my hands and yanked it from her grasp. Her eyes widened in shock, her lips forming an 'O'.

The sounds of Dominc's battle faded out as I spun the shovel around and thrust it forward. The point sliced right through Marie's chest like butter, then stuck. I let go of the handle as blood dripped down the head of the shovel protruding from her chest.

A loud roar ripped through my daze, my head snapping in the direction of the battle beside us. The demon's body was twitching violently, smoke rising from it. Hearing a gurgling sound to my right, I turned in time to see blood spill from Marie's mouth as she collapsed to the ground, unmoving.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"the demon roared loud enough that I had to cover my ears or risk bursting my eardrums. The floor beneath him suddenly gave way and he went down into a pure black abyss. The hell hole vanished as quickly as it had appeared.

"Move!" Dominic shouted. I managed to crawl backwards in just enough time as Marie's body was dragged down into another endless chasm. It too quickly vanished.

I stared at the spot that her bodyhad been, my breath coming out in ragged gasps from moving so much with openwounds on my side. The edges of my vision started to fade out, the sound ofDominic calling my name getting more muffled by the second. I lay back againstthe ground softly just as I lost consciousness.
