Fira woke up with the ringing of the town bell. The warning tones were playing. Sinbloods. She quickly got up and woke up Delilah. "Wake up Delilah! Wake up! Please!" She shook her until she got up. Fira grabbed her hand and led her outside. Her father was outside the door and led them towards the forest. "Are you guys ok? Are you hurt?" "No, father. We're unharmed." "That's good. Now go to the dome. You'll be safe there. I need to take care of something." Fira and Delilah watched as their father took out his rune daggers.
Her father was a mage mercenary and stuck close to the mercenary side. "Father, no! We can't lose you too! Please, don't go out there....please..." "I'm sorry, Fira. I must. I swore on your mother, I would do this. I'm sorry my darlings." He embraced both daughters as tears streamed down both girls' eyes. "Be safe, be strong. If I leave this world, I'll always watch over you, with your mother. I love you so much. May Enva watch you and let Starlight light your path." Both girls watched their father run back into the house and disappear.
They waited 40 minutes and still, nothing. Fira got up and ran towards the house but Delilah grabbed her hand. "Not you too, Fira! I can't lose anyone else!" "I promise I'll be back." "Then I'm going too. If we die, we die together." Fira hesitated for a minute and nodded. They ran towards the house and peered through the door. A horrible sight met their eyes. Their father's body was in a pool of blood. The house was a mess. Fira went up to her father. "Thank you father. You may truly rest now. May Enva, Starlight and mother guide your path to Vealis." She felt tears fall down her cheek and closed her father's eyes gently. She ran upstairs and grabbed her sister's book. She ran across to her own room and grabbed a back pack.
She stuffed all of the things she needed. Her books, her clothes, money, any necessary items went in the bag. While waiting for her sister to pack her items, she spotted something glowing across the room. It was a core mage's staff, a very powerful one to be glowing greatly. She picked it up and held it in her hands. A binding light wrapped her hands and her body. This was it. This was her chosen staff. She had never SEEN it in the whole village, let alone her house. She grabbed her bag and ran downstairs where her sister was waiting. She had all of her things and ran out of the house. The sisters proceeded towards the dome, where they knew they would be safe. The only regret they had was letting their father die alone.
