Summer

Summer. I remember always longing for the summer. The one period of the year were mother would not be there, the one period of the year I could find myself, and lastly, the one period of the year I was truly happy.

There would be sun and rain, warmth in the coldest house. There would be joy to the saddest people, and company to the loneliest. Summer is the blessing to the weak of spirit, to the devoid of love, to me.

I have noticed, for long now, how I have changed.

But so has the weather.

The sunny day's have become dull, even the grass, before green, now colored in dead hues of light brown. The cats no longer make use of the hot roof brick tiles as the heat is near to non-existent. It rains less often but the sky is always crowded with clouds. The air is humid and the glee belonging to the people has died out.

Summer is coming to an end and I worry of Narancia.

For a short while we have built our nothing. We are not lovers, but so, we are not strangers. He knows me and I know him. We have shared warmth but never touched lips. We have slept on the same bed and he has met my family. He has breathed the same air as I have and he has shown me love. I have been taught that I am in fact, worthy of the purest form of love. I am valued for who I am and not for being somebody's child.

I have learned to love myself.

And I have learned to love another.

I love him.

I truly love Narancia.

So I will close my eyes and pray that Cupid for once has a plan for me. And pray that his arrows have been shot at the boy I wish to call mine. Cupid. I could gamble the stars in the sky and carry boulders heavy enough to shatter my collarbone; let fate bring us together. Let me love him.

Let us flourish this finite summer love.

my favorite trope.
