It's been a long day at work and Seungkwan honestly just wants to sleep and be done with it. But he didn't even get to eat proper lunch because he had urgent matters to attend, and he's only fueled by a single sandwich and americano throughout the day.
He would've ordered something on the way home so the food would arrive together with him, but Seungkwan doesn't even know what to order and he fell asleep along the way. Ordering it now would mean he'd need to wait for at least another thirty minutes so he figures he should just make some ramyeon and call it a day.
That is, until he opens the door and the smell of something he's not sure is edible immediately greets his senses.
"Why did you call me just now!" he hears Mingyu huff in frustration from the kitchen. Living with you, Mingyu, and Junhui means a quiet day is something rare to come by. It's fun most of the time, but on days like this when Seungkwan is much too tired to deal with the noise, he can only heave a deep sigh and pray today's mess isn't as crazy as usual.
"What is it now?" he sighs as he steps into the kitchen. "What smells suspicious? Didn't we tell you not to cook?"
You pout at his accusing tone, telling him you actually managed to cook a proper kimchi jjigae earlier and this is just you wanting to try baking for once.
"There's still a bowl left if you want," you gesture at the diner table. "I promise it's good. I made it with Jun earlier so he made sure everything's fine."
Seungkwan looks at Mingyu for confirmation, which the tall guy only nods in return. You snicker at the interaction, though now that you're finally able to see Seungkwan properly after Mingyu fixed your cookie mess, you can see how tired the guy is.
"Go wash up," you softly push him out of the kitchen. "I'll heat up the meal while you're at it."
He doesn't even have it in him to reject your offer, simply pats your cheek in passing as he makes his way back to his room upstairs. Mingyu doesn't comment on the scene in front of him, well aware about whatever it is between you and Seungkwan. As far as he knows, you both are yet to make it official, though he's not sure what's stopping the two of you from going into a relationship.
Whatever it is, Mingyu has decided to see things from afar and hope you two will figure things out sooner than later.
"I'll leave you to it," he pats your head before he leaves, reminding you to soak the baking tray you used for the ruined cookies earlier.
When Seungkwan returns to the kitchen, it's already clean and you're by yourself on the dinner table, playing with your phone as a bowl of rice and a steaming kimchi jjigae is neatly placed in the middle of the table.
He takes the seat next to you, quietly thanking you for the food as he starts to dig in.
"Oh, this is pretty good," he hums in appreciation.
"I told you, didn't I?" you nudge him playfully, putting down your phone on the table so you can watch him.
His soft chuckle greets your ears, and you let him have the rare quiet atmosphere as he continues to dig in until the bowl is empty.
"Thank you for the food," he sighs appreciatively, his head falling into your shoulder as if it's the most natural place for it to be. "I was just about to eat ramyeon and call it a day."
"Long day?" you ask, shifting in place so you can bury your fingers in his short hair. "You didn't even text me when you're going home."
He whispers an apology, telling you he practically passed out the moment he sat down on the bus. "I told you about that proposal right? They suddenly want me to finish it by tomorrow and I was all over the place today."
"You did great," you tell him as you lean your head on top of his. "You should go rest, Kwan."
"I will," he whispers, the warmth of his breath hitting your neck. "Just wanna stay like this for a bit."
So you let him be and continue to comb your fingers through his hair, telling him about your day in hope it will distract him from his long one even a bit. When you feel like Seungkwan's going to fall asleep, you pull away and tell him to go back to his room and get some rest.
"Sleep in my room tonight?" he sleepily asks, finally pulling away from your neck. Before you can answer, his gaze drops to the shirt you're wearing. "Is that my shirt?"
"Am surprised it took you that long to notice," you grin shamelessly. "I thought this was my shirt, and when I noticed it's yours, I couldn't be bothered to change."
Seungkwan shakes his head at your explanation, softly bumping his head into yours with a happy smile.
"I'll sleep in your room in return?"
"You're lucky you're cute."
