This was an atrocious idea, Remus thought to himself as he showed up at the studio the Marauders were using. When he walks in James and Peter smile at him but Sirius just looks at him with no distinct emotion in his eyes. Remus' heart breaks slightly at the sight. You see what the boys don't know was that part of why Remus re-joined the band was so he could get Sirius back. He seriously (no pun intended) missed him and regretted their breakup which only happened because he was a dumbass who was too young to realize Sirius could help with Remus' problems instead of make them worse

"Okay," James starts, snapping Remus out of his trance. "Lets get started. Does anyone have a song they want to pitch? How about that song about getting high Sirius?"

"Dude, it's not about getting high." Sirius replies annoyed, like they've had this conversation before.

"Then why does it have 'high' in the title. And anyways if u want to show me that just sing it." Remus understood then, that James was just trying to get Sirius to perform the song.

"Fine." Sirius grumbles a little, but goes to get his drums. "James, I need your guitar for this." He passes James his notebook with what Remus can only assume has the song written in it, and they jump right into it.

The mirrors image tells me it home time

But I'm not finished, cause you're not by my side

And as I arrived I thought I saw you leavin, carryin your shoes

Decided that once again, I was just dreamin, of bumpin into you

Wow, Sirius was still as amazing as ever, with his deep raspy voice. And those hands, good god, they looked fantastic holding those sticks and Remus started to remember what else looked good in his hands. Fuck, he couldn't think about that right now.

Now it's three in the mornin, and I'm tryna change your mind

Left you multiple missed calls and to my message you replied

'Why'd you only call me when your high?'

'Hi, why'd you only call me when your high?'

This couldn't be about him could it? About the first fight they had in the beginning of their relationship? It was, wasn't it?

And I can't see you here, wonderin' where am I

It sort of feels like I'm runnin' out of time

I haven't found all I was hopin' to find

You said you gotta be up in the mornin'

Gonna have an early night

And you're startin' to bore me, baby

Why'd you only call me when you're high?

By the time the song ends Remus is stunned into silence. He wrote a song about that? Was it as important to him as it was to Remus? "So," Sirius asks. "What did you guys think?"

"It was really, really good." Peter says encouragingly.

Remus realizes he's supposed to contribute so he mutters a "Yeah, what Peter said."

James laughs. "You okay there Remus? You seem a little out of it." Oh the poor bloke. He doesn't realize what the song means. How it captured an important moment in his and Sirius' relationship. He probably hasn't even gathered that the song is about the two of them

"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine. But seriously. You did great." He offers an smile, but it wavers a little. Bloody hell, why was he getting so emotional about this? It's just a song. An important song. "Sirius, can I talk to you for a moment?" Sirius gets a deer in headlights look on his face, and Remus instantly regrets asking the question. "You know what, nevermind. Lets just continue."
