I do not own Vampire Diaries

[At the Hospital]

Jeremy had left his house early the next morning, coming up with an excuse for Jenna so that he could check on Vicky. Standing outside her hospital room, he gazed at the door with a mixture of worry and anticipation.

A nurse spotted the young boy lingering outside the room and approached him gently, saying, "You can't be in here right now, dear. Visiting hours don't begin until 9:00."

"I just... how is she?" Jeremy inquired, his concern for Vicky evident in his voice. He wanted to know how she was doing after the incident with Tyler and the woman who had intervened yesterday.

The nurse's sympathetic gaze met his. Due to patient confidentiality, she couldn't reveal much, so she offered, "She's lost a significant amount of blood. But thanks to the young woman who performed her surgery, she didn't lose even more. She's fortunate to still be with us."

Jeremy already knew Vicky had lost blood, but hearing just how close it had been was sobering. Unable to put into words the fear he felt, he asked instead, "Who did her surgery?" He was determined to express his gratitude to whoever had saved her life.

"The girl who arrived with her in the ambulance yesterday. She performed the surgery alongside a team of doctors," the nurse informed him. As a scrub nurse, she had been present during the operation.

"She did?" Jeremy exclaimed, surprised by the extent of the girl's involvement in saving Vicky not once, but twice. He was filled with an immense sense of gratitude toward her. Determining to properly thank her later, he refocused on his main concern. "Is Vicky going to be alright?"

The nurse let out a gentle sigh, understanding the boy's concern but unable to share specific information with him as he wasn't family. "She needs her rest. You should come back later," she advised, guiding him out of the room.

Leaving the hospital, Jeremy's thoughts remained on Vicky. As he walked, he spotted the woman who had been involved in the incident with Vicky the previous day. She was now walking with crutches, accompanied by another guy. A sense of curiosity and concern welled up within him. He was about to call out to her and inquire about what had happened when the guy drove away suddenly. Left perplexed, Jeremy shook his head and continued on his way to school.

[At Mystic Falls High School]

In the history class, Elena and Stefan found it difficult to focus on the lecture as their eyes repeatedly met, a silent exchange of emotions passing between them. The teacher droned on, and many students, especially those who had experienced Miss Williams' teaching, were growing increasingly bored with Mr. Tanner's style.

"Originally discovered nearly 5 centuries ago, it hasn't been over Mystic Falls in over 145 years. Now, the comet will be its brightest right after dusk during tomorrow's celebration," Mr. Tanner continued lecturing, though his stern gaze fell on both Stefan and Elena. Feeling embarrassed under his scrutiny, they lowered their gazes just as the bell rang, signaling the end of the class. With a rush of relief, the students quickly left the classroom.

[In the hallway]

"I brought it," Stefan said, handing over the book Elena had been hoping for. "Told you."

"'Wuthering Heights' by Ellis Bell. You know, I can't believe she didn't use her real name," Elena remarked, studying the book in her hands with delight. The story was a favorite of hers, and she was genuinely grateful that Stefan had managed to find a copy.

"All the Bronte sisters used pseudonyms. It was the time. Female writers weren't very accepted then," Stefan explained, well aware of the societal norms of that era.
