Chapter-1
'Let your fears be mine,
Let your worries be mine,
Just sleep tight for tonight,
Bury yourself in dreamlands of happiness,
Where you find love and friendliness,
Just sleep tight for tonight.'
I hummed the same lullaby my dad used to sing to me when I was little and put down Ethan in his cot for some shut eye and left our room shutting the door peacefully.
I entered the living room to see my eldest brother sitting there with his mate and talking quietly and when they sensed me entering the living room they stopped what they were doing and asked me "Is Ethan asleep?"
"Yeah he is" I replied and said again "so what's up with these papers and talking stuff" jerking my head towards the papers scattered across the table.
"Nothing just last few papers of bank statements about the money to be transferred to their bank accounts for good, so that we can move on to next step" Roman said
"What's the next step?" I asked
"You'll know when Joshua comes, '' Roman replied and went back to the paperwork.
I leaned back in my seat and closed my eyes and thought our lives just took 360 degree change in a matter of six months. From a happy loving pack, we ended up totally broken and scattered with only a few of them which were now sent to other packs or to their relatives and others chose to leave.
I sighed and heard a little rustling beside me , opening one eye I saw my other brother sitting beside me and now watching me as I'm some lab experiment.
"What?" I asked him
"Nothing" Joshua said and looked away
I just shrugged and again closed my eyes, since the incident they have been keeping a close eye on me as I was going to explode at any time; any minute of day, but no one can blame them I was a mess after all had happened.
"Ok I have an announcement to make" said Roman, me and Joshua sat straight abruptly and faced my elder brother Roman and his mate and wife Emma.
"So I was saying that we all are aware of the conditions we faced and it's consequences and all the money arrangements I have to make for the pack members who left." He paused and eyed us curiously that are we understanding what he's saying, we all nodded our heads encouraging him to continue "so all the legal paperwork is finished and I know this land means so much to us and it's been our home for long time, but we can't live here anymore and I have made some arrangements in another pack not just any other but, Grandma's old pack their she left us house but I requested their Alpha for one more because that wouldn't be enough for us"
We are leaving the only home land we have known but again it's for the best and he wouldn't make any wrong decisions regarding us, his family not when we have two babies with us one his and one–ours my wolf Xavier said, yeah ours.
"so any questions you want to ask" Roman asked again
Then I spoke for the first time in this conversation "When do we leave?"
"In two days, we are leaving in two days," Roman said gently.
I nodded my head and got up from my seat to go upstairs and start packing our stuff so that we can leave, not like we have much left.
"Where are you going?" Emma asked
"Packing, lot to do" I replied not giving much of a response and made a move to start on the task in hand.
"Hey Jamie, you know right it's for the best, for you, Ethan and Riley for us" Roman asked me in a gentle voice, begging me to understand. His only intention was to provide us with a better living environment.
"I know it's for the best" I said and smiled reassuringly towards him which he returned wholeheartedly. Because I really do. I understand the dilemma we all have. The situation is definitely not on our side. We have to consider what's best for the family.
"So Joshua you coming" I called to him over my shoulder.
"Coming where?" his confused voice asked.
"Packing" I replied in 'duh' tone and called out again "Is your medical degree authentic because doctors tend to be smart?" I taunted him seeing his lost expression.
I heard laughter from the living room and a grunt of annoyance "I'll tell you how smart a doctor can be." I heard his rushing footsteps eagerly coming my way.
With that he chased me in the whole house to tell me how smart he can be and packing was long forgotten.
