Bong cried himself to sleep that night.
He still could not swallow up the fact that he was living in a house with cheaters. His own parents. If he could re phrase the word parent to what fit in his situation, they were his birth givers. Only his mom was his birth giver. His dad had no part in his life.
None of his parents were present for the most of his childhood. He was neglected by them all the time. Not picking up calls, not answering texts, not even having a proper conversation.
They were present with him only during exam results and competitive things. They never really showed any type of affection towards him. Now, everything was fitting perfectly. His dad coming home late, mom always stuttering when talking to him. Always being aggressive.
So, his mind goes back to the only people he can trust, Kai and Pranpriya.
He pulls himself together and reaches out to his phone under the covers. He dials the first number in his recent.
Hello?
Bong? What's wrong why is your voice so low? Were you crying? Do I have to beat someone up? Do you want me to come over? I swear-
NO! I just-
Tell me! Something is wrong!
Can I come over to your place? Can you maybe call Kai too?
Bong-
PLEASE! I need to talk to both of you!
OK. Just be careful on your way here OK?
I will
Pranpriya might be the most energetic and very optimistic, but if something happens to her friends, she can kill.
The boy walks up to his bathroom and takes a look in the mirror. He did not look good at all. His hair was messy and all over the place. His eyes looked lifeless. The area under his eyes turned black and lines of tears were visible. He decided not to stare for too long and did his job.
He put on nothing special today, he put absolutely no effort to it. He liked to put effort to his clothing sense because it makes him look and feel better. But today, was not the day to put effort into anything. He was wearing black pants and sweater and put on his slippers, not bothering about the cold weather outside.
As he came down stairs, he saw no one. 'Just like always' he thought. He grabbed the keys and locked the door.
It was very cold outside. There were few cars outside and some people walking out of stores. He released a breath which came out as a puff of smoke. 'I should have worn warmer clothes' he thought but he was far from his house now.
Walking even further, he heard noises, small little noises. Whatever it was, it was crying. He turned to the direction where the noises came from. He figured out that the noises were coming from a torn up box on the side of the footpath. He came closer to it and opened it to take a look.
What he saw shattered his heart. There was a Russian Blue cat lying inside the box, whimpering from the cold. It had hurt his leg and it's tail was bleeding.
"How can someone be so heartless to hurt you little one?" Bong said, sadness laced in his voice.
The cat looked surprised to see a human looking at it. It just kept on mewling.
"Are you hungry" he asked, tilting his head. He reached out his hand to rub its head. When he did so, the cat flinched.
"No love I'm not going to hurt you. Please trust me a bit" he said, faintly smiling. As understanding his words, the cat leaned in and rubbed its nose against Bong's palm.
"You are so unlucky to be left like this. But don't worry, I will take you with me to my friend's house so you won't be lonely okay?" Bong said softly.
He picked up the cat and puts it inside his sweater paws and sticks its nose out so it can breathe. "You will be able to breathe now. You are so tiny!" Bong cooed at the tiny Russian Blue that was sound asleep in his sweater paws. "Let's go or else Pranpriya will kill us for being late" Bong said to no one in particular.
After walking for what felt like hours, he reached the familiar door of Pranpriya's house. He pressed the bell and heard footsteps. The door opened revealing Pranpriya wearing a tank top and black sweat pants.
"FINALLY! WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG!" Pranpriya shouted.
"Shhhhh don't shout. Let me come in first. It is freezing" Bong said as he entered into the house which was warmer and more welcoming than outside.... or his own house.
"Okay come in! And you should have put on warmer clothes you know? Kai just arrived a few minutes ago" she said, pushing him further into the house.
Bong smiled, looking at the living room. He spent half of his childhood here, in Pranpriya's house while rest of it was spent in Kai's house.
As he turned again, he saw Kai sitting on the couch reading a book called "Shadow and Bone". Bong smiled, already knowing that Kai loved fantasy novels.
"Hey Kai. How are you?" Bong asked, his voice quieter than usual. Kai put his book down and looked at Bong.
"I'm doing great but is something troubling you Bong? Your voice is quiet and you are not smiling? You can tell me if something is wrong" Kai said, standing up from his seat.
"Before I say anything, do you have a first aid kit?" Bong asked, looking around the familiar fire place.
"Did you trip and fall and get a boo boo little Bong?" Pranpriya teased him.
"No. I need first aid for my love here" Bong said quietly, pulling out the Russian Blue from his sweater paws.
"O.M.G! Give that poor thing to me. This is where my doctor self enters!" Pranpriya screamed. She was studying medicine. The pink haired girl was always into helping others and she thought that being a doctor was the solution.
Pranpriya ran into the bathroom and came back with a box with a plus on it. She took the injured animal from Bong's hands and placed it softly on the couch. She took some cotton and dipped it in a little bit of alcohol and gently wiped the wounds.
The cat whimpered when she did so but Kai reached out a hand and gently pet its head. She looked at Kai and gave a small nod which he returned. She took bandages and wrapped it around the cat's leg and tail.
She felt proud of herself. It was the first time she did it without someone telling her what to do.
The little animal was sound asleep in Kai's hold and Pranpriya just cooed at the sight of it. She brought a basket from one of the rooms and placed a folded blanket in it. She took the cat from Kai's hands and placed it in the basket.
"OKAY! Now that this is done," she turned to Bong,
"can you tell us what is wrong. And don't you dare lie"
