Chapter 8: H For Home

"You are now officially a member of Luna Society. Congrats, Elio, consider Luna Society as your second home!" Cosmos declared while raising his gun to the air.

He fired and hit the big black balloon on the ceiling reason for gold confett's to pop out of it. Well, that was a little childish.

Out of 489 people who tried to be recruited, last week, only a hundred were recruited. But 99 of them remained in the lowest rank. While I was already at the position of being a caporigime, the rank next to the underboss. Me and Cosmos have the same rank.

People cheered and took out their guns. I was a little surprised when they all fired to the ceiling. They're all wilder than I expected. Oh how I wish we could do that in our organization. Although, in pretty sure General Z1 would hang all of us on the ceiling upside down if we damage the building.

"Don't worry, the ceiling here is just like a target, the bullet won't reach the roof," Cosmos whispered and laughed.

He was far from what I expected him to be. He's still a braggart fool when we're around the members, but when both of us are alone, he's kinda…friendly? I think he has a side that everyone doesn't know.

"Elio, our new caporigime, do you have anything to say?" he asked loudly, getting the audience's attention.

They all cheered and shouted "Elio" over and over again.

I smiled a bit before clearing my throat. "Thank you for the warm welcome. I'll make sure that you wouldn't regret giving me a chance to be a part of this society."

It didn't take long before the next crime of the society happened. And to my not so surprise, I was already included to do the mission with the underboss.

"Elio, we'll need you on our next job," the underboss called. All the caporigimes are in the meeting area. It was a long wooden table with office chairs around it. As usual, the lights were dimmed which made the brick walls darker.

"You can count on me."

I was preparing my gun when Cosmos signaled me to follow him. We went inside his car and wore masks to protect our identities.

"So… You and I will prevent the mayor's car from passing by this street." He took out his phone and showed me a map. The street wasn't that far from where we are. "Since I know these streets better, I'll be the one to drive. Do you know how to assassinate?" he asked.

I wanna scoff at him. Assassination is my favorite game as a kid. "Of course. I've never missed a target," I answered and smirked at him.

He rolled his eyes and mocked me. "Since our goal is to get the mayor, kill all of the hindrances. And you better not fail. Remember, if you fail, both of us will get in trouble—"

"Yeah, yeah, hurry up and drive or you'll miss his car," I interrupted and showed him his phone. A tracker was put in the mayors car so we can see where he is headed. Killing…I've done that already. But for those who deserved it.

As soon as we saw the mayor's car, Cosmos swiftly turned the wheel and blocked the car's way. The mayors car braked quickly. As expected, the driver got out and was about to come near us when Cosmos shot him.

I felt like I was caught off guard when when when the people around panicked. I didn't want to shoot any civilian.

"Hurry and get him!" If Cosmos didn't shout at me, I would've forgotten that I was supposed to get the mayor.

I opened the door and pointed my gun to everyone who tried to get near. As soon as I got to the mayor's car, I saw him inside covering his head.

"Out," I ordered. When he didn't move, I forcefully grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled him out.
