Chapter 18: R for Reach

"Where have you guys been? I was worried that you left without saying goodbye!" Xam greeted us the moment we entered the family mansion. It was around 9PM and Vio was already asleep in my arms.

"Sabi naman sa 'yo na 'di pa 'yan aalis, narito pa ako, oh. Iiwan ba ako niyan?" Asahi interrupted, looking like he was having the time of his life with the wine glass on his hand.

I rolled my eyes. "Vio got sick."

"Huh? How come?" Xam walked towards us and took a peak at her nephew.

"You fed him with foods that caused his excessive flatulence."

"Gosh, poor Vio… I'll make it up to him, I swear!" She smiled sweetly before raising her brows. "Oh…and I've prepared your room. It's the first room on the left hall, second floor. You guys should rest."

"Thank you, Xam."

After placing Vio on the bed, I decided to take a hot shower to rinse off my thoughts about the doctor earlier.

Her voice…it captivated something in me. I couldn't help but to think about it over and over again. It was like a broken record, a repeating play list in my head. And everytime I hear it in my mind… I remember Aria. Her sweet voice and gentle touch… Damn. She put a curse on me.

Later that day, I received a call from Cosmos, saying that Fraser Leon, the prisoner of Elisio Society, had escaped. I was so pissed with the lowly mistake that they did that it made me go back to Italy in an instant. Since I couldn't bring Vio with me, he was again left in Asahi's care.

"How could you let that happen? That prisoner is related to Russia's most wanted Mafia. If he's able to come back to his organization, Elisio Society could gain them as enemies. We can't let that happen. Elisio Society just got back on track for goodness sake!"

That's right. After that blue-eyed prisoner decided to talk, we managed to discover that he's a part of a Russian Mafia. Although we didn't get to hear why he was in Italy, it is still risky to let him go knowing that he tried to invade our Society.

Everyone in the room bowed their heads, being ashamed of what they did. I gave Cosmos a sharp stare. He should've took care of this. This mistake should never happen again.

"Tighten the security of our HQ. Everyone must be alert, especially now that there's a possibility that we would gain new enemies from this."

"Yes, Boss!" they all responded.

"Do your work now. You are dismissed." Cosmos was about to walk out too when I called his attention, "Not you, Cosmos." He paused on his track and waited for everyone to exit before slowly turning around to face me.

He plastered an apologetic smile and walked towards my direction, keeping a distance because he knew, I wanted to hit him.

"Forgive me, Elio. I was away when it happened," he reasoned out while brushing his mohawk with his fingers, trying to act all innocent.

I massaged my temple. I hope the society won't face a big crisis after this mess. We can't afford to be ruined at our growth stage.

"Don't worry, I'll fix this." As much as I wanted to trust Cosmos, he has been very busy with transactions lately, that is why I'm still having doubts.

"You better be, Cosmos. We didn't reach this stage for nothing," I replied with my brows furrowed.

"But… I do have a question…" He tapped his left foot lightly on the floor, like he was being hesitant. "Why are you worrying that much?"

"I'm not worried. I'm only avoiding what the previous Mafia Boss failed to avoid; unwanted enemies."

Besides, Elisio Society needs to be on the top as soon as possible. I have a plan for this society. I plan to set things right in the underground.
