Daryl's POV

We run away from the store and towards the road. "This way!" I shout as I point down a path that leads to the back of the clothing store. The walkers haven't come out yet, so they don't see us. Just one of the advantages of them being slow.

I swing my crossbow over my shoulder cussing under my breath as we climb the ladder to the roof. And just out of our luck, there are about ten walkers up here. Two fall off though which makes eight.

They come straight for us and I shoot one in the eye. Then another, then another. I throw my crossbow down as one of them makes its way to us and grab my knife. I plunge it into its head. Then the next one. I look over at Carol who has just finished a walker of her own.

We only have two left and finish them together. "Damn it, Carol! you just had to get your way didn't you?" I yell as I yank my arrows out of the walkers. She stares at me a second then fills up with rage.

"You already know why I'm doing this, Daryl! So don't give me that crap. Look, I'm sorry we ran into walkers but that happens all the time!" She is yelling now.

"With the rest of our group! Shit, Carol! As much as I hate to admit it, we need them in these situations." I mumble the last sentence and sit down against some crates. She gives me a sharp laugh then sits down too. "Well, how are we gonna get of this roof?" I look around and to our luck, there is a latch that leads inside.

We open the latch as quietly as possible. When we look inside, we see about a dozen walkers. Shit.

"So what's the plan?"
"There aren't many. We can shoot a few then jump down and finish the rest off." I say as I put an arrow into position in the crossbow.
"Okay" I look over to see her getting out her gun.
I put up my hand and put it over the gun. "What are you doing? Trying to get us killed?"

"You said we were shooting." She looks confused.
"Yeah, I am! my crossbow is quiet and a gun will bring the rest of the walkers back and then we will be in bigger trouble than we are now!"
"Okay. Okay. Chill. Sorry." She mumbles. I sigh and aim my crossbow.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I take the arrow out of the son a bitch's head. Still got the best aim. No bullshit.
"Now let's look for the swimsuit." She starts looking in the men's aisle. I groan and start searching also.
After twenty minutes we have still found nothing except kids swimsuits. I'm really getting frustrated and want to leave now. "Look Carol. We've been here long enough. There is nothing here. Let's go. Besides it'll be dark soon."
She groans and takes one last look around. she starts walking towards me when she suddenly stops and gives me a huge grin.
She runs over to a fallen clothes rack and lifts it up. Revealing mens swimsuits.
Shit.
"Can we go n-"
Before I can finish the door slings open and the walkers roam in.
Double Shit.
I grab her hand and run over next to the clothes rack to get my crossbow. We rush to the ladder and clumsily climb up. I'm behind Carol on the ladder and see her starting to slip. I grab her thigh quickly and help lift her back up.
When we reach the top we climb out and onto the roof and close the latch. We sit there a second and catch our breath.
When we are okay, we stand up and look over the roof and in front of the building.
There are walkers everywhere.
Damn it.
"Crap."
"Okay we are gonna have to sneak off the roof."
"Okay, how about we climb down the ladder and sneak through the woods."
"Sounds like a plan."
We climb down the ladder to the back of the building and sneak into the woods. When we are out of view, we start to sprint.
We make it half way sprinting than almost like we are reading each other's minds, we both run out of breath.
We stand there for a few seconds catching our breath. The silence is deafening. After a few long minutes Carol decides to break the silence.
"You think we lost them?"
"Yeah. They would have found us by now." I'm fiddling with my crossbow and looking at the ground. I'm still mad at her for dragging me out here in the first place. I ignore her and start walking again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We finally reach the fence with the same hole that we came out of. We crawl back through and it is a mad house.

Everybody is running around looking in empty houses and panicking. When I listen, I hear them calling mine and Carol's name.

Crap.
