Carol's POV

Daryl and I are on our third night of night watch. Our punishment for leaving the grounds without telling anyone.

We've been at it for hours and it's no longer sunny outside.

I turn my head to see Daryl slouched against the gate with his eyes closed snoring. Geez, he is so loud. He might attract walkers.

I look around making sure there are no walkers. I don't hear any. I start to walk over to him to wake him up when I suddenly stop.

He is so peaceful.

I stare at him for a while. I watch his chest move slowly up and down as he breaths. His hair is in his face. I roll my eyes as I think this. His hair is always in his face. I should really cut his hair after I give him a bath.

We still have a week of night watch to do. I think Rick is overreacting. Then again, he is still messed up about last week. I wish he would get over it. He had to do what he did. No one blames him. Well I'm not so sure about the original people from Alexandria. But his real group doesn't. I know that for a fact.

I sigh and start turning to face the gate again when I see him move in the corner of my eye. I freeze hoping I didn't wake him up. When I look, he's still sound asleep. I breath a sigh of relief. I really don't want to wake him. I've never seen him so peaceful. He actually looks his age. Still filthy though.

There hasn't been a walker in hours. I turn and walk over to Daryl and slide down the gate wall. I sit there for a few minutes. I start to doze after a while.

Daryl's POV

I wake up refreshed. I don't know where I am until I move a little and feel the gates bolts in my back.

I'm against the gate wall.

My head is still fuzzy with sleep when I look at my surroundings.

It's quite. Too quite.

It is never silent here. Not when I'm awake at least. It must be really early in the morning. I look up to see that it's still pretty dark outside. The sun is coming up though.

I sit back against the gate and enjoy the peace and quite when I start to feel a tug on my shoulder as I move. I look that way to see Carol sleeping soundly with her head on my shoulder. I stop moving. She needs her rest. She hasn't been sleeping very well with these night watches that we are doing. I don't think she has been sleeping at all. Not that I've seen.

I lay back and watch her. She is actually very pretty. It's really hard not to do what she asks when she gives you her look.

I smile at the thought. She is very persuasive. Even when she's mad. She can be laughing and in the best mood ever or pist as hell and you still won't be able to resist her.

I start to relax when I see Carol shift in the corner of my eye. When I look, she has pulled her feet up and is cuddling herself. She's cold.

I sit up so I'm able to slip of my leather jacket and place it onto her lap. I wrap my right arm around her shoulders to give her more warmth. She cuddles against me and I start to shiver. Ironic since she is the one who is cold.

I've never really been this close to a girl before. Even shaking hands. It's kind of nice. After the moments passed I rest my head on her head and start to relax.

After a while I start to feel tired. I don't want to sleep out here. I pick up Carol gently carful not to wake her and start to walk back to the houses.
