Carol's POV
We walk into the first house that isn't being used. We find gum wrappers, old candy, ripped clothing and find a walker in each of the two bedrooms. Separately, killing walkers is easy because they are slow and stupid. In hurds, they are very dangerous because there are usually a bunch of them and they surround you. Just like when they did at the Prison and in Terminus.
After walking through a few houses, we stop to rest and eat a granola bar. I decide to break the silence.
"What's your favorite color?" I ask him. He looks at me quizzically."Why?"
"Because even though we spend almost all of our time together, we don't know much about each other."
"What does it matter. I don't really even have one. I stopped having one when the apocalypse happened." He shrugs as he says that sentence.
"Then tell me what it was before all of this." I say maybe a little to stern.
He sighs, giving up on it. "Green""What?" I say. Half stunned that he actually answered and half stunned of what the color is.
"Dark green. I've always liked it. What about you?"
"Red. Why do you like green?" I ask as we scavenge the next house.
"Because green is the color that makes up everything. It makes up grass which is everywhere. Which connects us all." He shrugs at his answer.
I stand there gazing at him with my mouth open. I'm shocked by his answer. He never talks like this. I mean he does sometimes. But very rarely.
We finish scavenging and head for the next house. We search the living room first then head for the kitchen. We find some canned food and clothes but no swimsuit.
"Didn't anyone go swimming here?" I ask as we head out.
"Well that was the last house. Guess I won't be getting clean today. Let's go back." He says with a smirk. I can see what he is doing.
"Absolutely not! We will search everywhere because your getting really stinky. It's hard to see around you." I laugh and blink rapidly to tease him.
He rolls his eyes at me. "Ha ha very funny." He says as he turns to face me.
"Then where do we go Miss?" He asks me. I look around to see if anyone is here. I don't see anyone and look around for a way out of the boundaries. I spot a hole in the fence of the backyard of the house we just came out of.
"There." I point to the hole.
"We are gonna leave the boundaries? To find swimming suit pants?"
"Yes. It's very important. Your gross." I squint my nose at him and he roles his eyes.
"We're gonna get into trouble if we leave." He stares at me for a second. "Let's go." He says with a smirk.
I light up with glee and we turn and head for the hole.Today we are leaving the boundaries of Alexandria.
