Eyes Everywhere...

Oh, somedays I remember that time
When I used to stand under the lights,
The hardwork, the fame, it was all mine
Until it all became a lie.

Not good enough, they said to me
It was the face that mattered, they told me
Oh, why did I think I stood a chance
When a good face was the one thing I didn't have?

Eyes, they followed me to the top,
Eyes, they watched me fall down.
Eyes, in them my glory was caught
Eyes, they watched as I became a clown.
Not a hand that raised in justice came,
Not a tear was shed for me,
My stories of fame became my shame,
as I faded, quietly, into obscurity.

Oh, the acid burned my fame
Oh, the acid brought me pain,
But it won't compare to what I became
When my fingers burned away in its rain.

The cold keys of my love, I can't feel anymore,
Without the pain that numbs my mind.
I soak with blood my piano,
And tear up when it joins my cries.

Eyes, they watch me cry in fear,
Eyes, they watch me scream for help,
Eyes, they watch him bring the bottle near,
Eyes, they leave me burning by myself.
Not a single person watches me play anymore,
Not a single person wipes the blood and tears,
My dreams, do they not exist anymore?
Or have they become my new nightmare?

A sensational news, that's what I became,
Not the genius who's music moved hearts,
The people only said, "it's such a shame",
Before they gave the new chapter of their life a start.

Forgotten that I was, my music still echoes
My melodies immortal, my story a tragedy,
With bittersweet tears, I hold this fact close
At least my music is remembered, if not me.

My face gone, I'd no one who heard
As I cried for a chance to play to the world,
My dreams vanished with nary a word,
I guess, in the end, that's all I was worth.

Eyes, they watched me ascend to my pedestal,
Eyes, they spread my joy everywhere,
Eyes, they watched as I fell to hell.
Eyes everywhere, but they never really cared.
