TAEHYUNG POV

Tae felt Jungkook go tense above him, his eyes wary. He reacted to the other alpha's body language and got ready to move.

Jungkook jumped to his feet and pulled Tae up after him. Tae turned and saw what Jungkook had spotted.

There was someone watching them. Someone had seen.

The someone in question was a man Tae guessed was a few years younger than them.

It looked like he'd come over the brow of the hill behind them and had walked up on something he clearly wasn't expecting. The question was how much he knew.

Had he recognized Jungkook, had he seen what they were doing?

Did he realize they were both alphas?

"Hello," Jungkook said.

The young man just stared.

An omega, Tae realized, taking in his stature. The dog by his side growled when Jungkook took a step forward, the prince stilling before easing back.

"I'm sorry if we scared you. Our boat's engine is fried, help won't be here until tomorrow, and we decided to come on land. We didn't realize anyone was here."

Jungkook was trying to do damage control.

He wasn't much good at it, if the omega's continued silence was any indication.

"What's your name?" he tried instead. "I'm Taehyung."

The dog barked again, advancing on them.

"We'll just be on our way,"

Jungkook said. "We didn't mean to intrude or upset your dog."

"Heel, Rufus," the omega said, the first words he'd spoken.

The old dog sat obediently and stared up adoringly at his master.

"Rufus, huh?" Jungkook said.

"And you are..."

"Jimin."

The omega seemed a little starstruck which made Tae worry he knew exactly who Jungkook was.

"You're not supposed to be here," the omega continued softly.

"Yeah." Jungkook rubbed the back of his neck, his expression contrite.

"Sorry about that. We didn't mean any harm. What about you? What are you doing here?"

That earned them a puzzled look.

"The goats," Jimin said as if that explained everything.

"You look after the goats?" Tae said. "What, by yourself?"

Jimin gave a cautious nod, tightening his hand on Rufus's collar as he did, as if wary about admitting he was alone.

"They seem very healthy," Jungkook continued awkwardly.

"You must be good at your job."

The omega made a sound that might have been a smothered laugh. "Rufus does most of it."

His curiosity hadn't faded, and Tae guessed he was bound to ask them something eventually.

"What are you? Fishermen?"

He looked them up and down, his expression saying clearly that they didn't look like any fishermen he had ever seen.

"No," he explained, glancing at Jungkook.

"We're Navy. On leave. Just doing some sightseeing."

"Navy," Jimin repeated slowly.

"Alpha hybe?"
