JIMIN POV

The kiss left Jimin conflicted.

Was it meant to feel like that?

Like every part of his body, from the tips of his toes to the top of his head had come alive?

That night, lying in bed, he thought of nothing else.

It was only at breakfast the next morning that it occurred to him that he wasn't the only one thinking about it.

"He didn't kiss anyone else, you know," Freddie, the omega sitting next to him, said.

"Not a single beta. Just you. And some of the omegas got second dances. None of the betas did. They're all silently seething."

Jimin glanced around the room, noticing the poisonous looks being aimed their way and the vicious whispering.

"Not so silent," he said, turning back to his plate.

"Still, I'm glad it wasn't me he kissed," Freddie continued. "I'd hate to be the focus of their ire."

Jimin didn't get that. "But he kissed me. If they're going to be angry at anyone, shouldn't it be him?"

Freddie waved a slice of toast at him. "He's a prince and an alpha. They're so blinded by adoration that, to them, he can do no wrong."

"But you, you're just a strange little omega who did what they couldn't do."

"They think you must have manipulated him or led him on."

"It's easier to believe that than believe the prince might actually like one of us."

"But Prince Joon and..." He couldn't remember the other omega prince's name.

"A fluke, according to them."

Jimin glanced toward the nearest table of betas, shrinking from the obvious anger in their eyes.

"What do I do?"

"What we'll all have to do. Keep our heads down and ride it out. Don't retaliate, no matter how much cause they give us."

"Because you can be sure that the second one of us does some thing wrong, we'll be out."

"They'll be more lenient toward the betas. Maybe a three-strike policy or something."

"But that's not fair."

Freddie snorted. "Hadn't you noticed? We're omegas. Life is inherently unfair to us."

"It's built into our laws, into the very fabric of our lives."

"What rock have you been living under?"

"Not a rock," Jimin hedged defensively. "An island."

"And what, they didn't have newspapers on this island?"

"No," he replied.

"Just goats. And me. And Rufus."

"Is Rufus your dad?" Freddie asked, as he took a bite of his toast.

"No. My dog."

The other omega chewed and swallowed before replying. "You know, that explains a lot."

Did it?

Jimin wasn't sure how or what.

After breakfast, they were sent back to their rooms to change for a tour of a private art gallery in a nearby town.

They were due on the bus promptly at nine. Jimin noticed his bedroom door was slightly ajar.

He didn't think anything of it until he pushed it open and found himself drenched with water as something hit the floor with a bang.
