"Ta-da!" Mike shouts, waving his free hand around for dramatic effect as the pair step into the Wheeler Basement.

Will feels a smile playing on his lips and he doesn't hold back.

"It's better than I could ever imagine!" Will says, pretending to swoon as he puts his hand to his forehead as if he could faint.

Mike stares for a second, until he can't take it anymore and bursts out laughing.

Will cracks shortly after and doubles over, clutching his stomach and releasing his hand from Mike's. It wasn't even that funny, but it was a joke between just him and Mike, so it made it better.

The giggle fit roared on, lasting just under a minute before Mike regained his composure.

"But-" Mike starts, still breathless from his laughter before, "Is it really okay?"

Will is still holding his stomach, and his goofy grin shifts to a sincere smile.

"Yes, Wheeler," Will sighs, fully calming down, "Like I said, it's perfect."

Mike's eyes go wide as he begins to do a weird victory dance.

"Pretty boy approves of my basement!"

Will was open-mouthed, flattered, and holding back laughter. He directed his full gaze to the dancing boy in front of him. Anyone could tell it was a look of fondness and endearment.

"You're such a dork, Freckles."

"And you love it."

"I do."

Mike stops dancing and looks at Will, who was focusing everywhere but Mike now, not wanting to melt under his stare.

The two go silent for what feels like forever, but in reality had to be under thirty seconds.

"Hey Will," Mike whispers, breaking the quiet.

Will now makes brief eye contact with Mike for the first time in minutes, "Yes?"

"I mean it when I say you're pretty." He says softly.

There were now blotches of red on Will's cheeks. There was no way Mike just said that. One minute they were laughing and calling each other dorks, and the next Mike was acting like they were boyfriends.

"No you don't."

"I really do." Mike smiles gently.

Will knows he's blushing like a mad man. The giddy feeling in his stomach is evident and his heart is beating out of his chest. He takes a few breaths and decides to brush the short moment off with a joke.

Because that's what it was, a joke.

Mike was just joking.

"If that's the case, then I mean it when I say that you're a dork...because that was the cheesiest thing ever!"

Will begins to laugh and Mike hesitates before awkwardly laughing too. This goes unnoticed by the Byers boy.

"So what do you say we get started?" Will asks, thankful he broke the weird atmosphere between them.

"Yeah..yeah let's get working," Mike says, shaking his head sort of breathlessly.

Will begins to walk over to the small table in the middle of the room surrounded by four chairs.
