Chapter 5 - Culprit

Aubrey POV

I couldn't just leave that dumpster there... there was something sketchy about it... that 'liquid' that was poring out of it seemed odd. It didn't look like some oil. It looked like blood! I went over back to that ally way near the store and opened the lid of the trash bin without a second thought.

As soon as I opened it my feet were glued to the ground. I couldn't move. Nor could I take a deep breath. I see the dead body of a familiar person, but I can't really grasp who it is. The image of that person is blank in my mind. I can't remember who they are! I don't even understand what I'm looking at! If it's someone I am aware of then wouldn't I be worried...?

I lean closer to the body and gently touch the neck where the blood was coming from. It took me a good while to realise that the one I was looking at is Kel. As soon as I pieced my mind together I immediately closed the lid and backed away. I ran back at the trash bin and lifted the lid once again. My eyes aren't lying. That is literally Kel's dead body that I'm looking at. 

But who could have done this? Kel doesn't really have a person that despises him so why would that happen? Though Hero is still mad and locked in his house. And knowing him he would never kill his own brother. What do I do? Do I call the police? Or inform this to Hero? I pull out my cellphone and open Hero in my contacts.

I take a picture of Kel's dead body and send it to him.

AUBREY: I found his dead body in the dumpster. Can we talk this out at your house?

HERO: WHAT THE FUCK? IS THIS A JOKE?

AUBREY: NO ITS NOT I LITERALLY FOUND UR BROTHERS DEAD BODY IN THE DUMPSTER!!!

AUBREY: Can I please go to your house? We need to discuss this.

HERO: YOU BETTER COME QUICKLY THEN!!

I put my phone back in my pocket and let out a shaky breath. I close the lid of the trash bin and walk away. I still can't quite believe what I just saw. I know Kel likes to joke around, but this is taking it too far... I can't let this go any further! But wait... didn't I say I wanted to stop getting involved in things like this? What do I do know? I don't want to be involved in this, but then again i can't just leave Kel's body lying in that dumpster and leaving the culprit still be running around Faraway.

I knock on the door. It takes a while for anyone to respond, but the door slightly creaks open revealing Hero's eye. "Yes...?" "Hello, Hero... this is Aubrey... this is uhh... about that image I sent to you..." Hero opened the door wider to let me in the house. Nothing changed and his parents don't seem to be around. As I enter Hero's room the first thing I noticed is that everything is dark. His blinds are fully closed and I can barely see anything. 

I sit down on the bed and Hero turns on the lights. "Now explain to me what the duck you just sent to me...." "Well... I was just in the alleyway near the store until I saw that there was blood coming from the trash bin..." "And in that trash bin there was Kel's body right?" I nod and Hero sighs. "First Mari... And now Kel... what the hell is even going on..."

"I'm sure it wasn't Sunny fault this time though. In fact I think it has something to do with Basil." Hero raises his head. His eyes were piercing through mine letting slight shivers down my spine. "What do you mean something to do with Basil... wasn't he a good person...? Who would have never even dreamed of killing anyone...?" "Well yeah, but... recently he's been acting strange. He has grown quite an unhealthy obsession with Sunny. If I'm not mistaken I also think they're dating now."

"Well...I think I did hear Basil acting strange when I was still locked inside of my room yeah... you guys were arguing I think. I also think i heard Basil demanding that he spends the entire day with Sunny or something..." I hold my arms and stand up from the bed. "Yeah, that's exactly what I'm talking about know. We can go and check out the body of you're missing brother to prove I'm not wrong." Hero nods in agreement as he also stands up from the bed.

We both exit the house and start walking over to the place where the body was. It didn't take us long to realise that someone was there. Hero raises his head. "Hey is that... Basil?"

Basil POV

I opened the lid of the trash bin. Kel's body is still here. Meaning that no one has seen it. That's good. I grab Kel by his hand and slowly start to drag him out of the trash bin. I continued doing so until I saw Hero and Aubrey approaching me. 

They both started running up to me. Shit... I think they found out... "Basil, what the hell!" As soon as Hero sees me dragging out Kel's body I release his hand. "I-I...." Aubrey seemed to be in a loss of words. "So you really weren't lying when you said he was dead... and I hate that...." 

Hero raises his fist and punches me in the face. "I really don't want to be like this, but... This really is a time where I need to hurt you. Cause you didn't just hurt my brother you killed him!" I look away with and angered expression. I try to run away, but Aubrey holds onto my sleeve before I could. 

"What do we do now? Do we call the police?" Hero snatches me away from Aubrey and holds me down to the ground. "You can go. I'll call the police..." Aubrey nods in agreement.

Aubrey POV

I'll go to Sunny house since he hasn't come out. Maybe Basil holding him hostage there? Could be so... I start running towards his house.

As I knock on the door I get the same treatment as always. No response... I pull the door open and surprisingly it wasn't locked. I close It behind me and lock it just so that Basil doesn't get in. I run around the house for a while. "Sunny... Sunny! Where are you? Answer me!" I run upstairs and I see Sunny.

He was just lying in bed. There was an empty bottle of orange Joe lying on the ground. I pick it up and sit down on the bed where Sunny was. Sunny opens his eyes and slightly flinches. "H-huh...? What are you doing here? How did you even get in here..." 

I've come to rescue you from Basil! Come on let's go! I hold onto his hand and drag him out of bed. "Wait... Aubrey..." "Come on, Sunny we need to go!" "I-I know this sounds awful, but.... I'm starting to feel safe around, Basil...." "No, Sunny! You are not staying here!" "B-But, Aubrey! I think I actually like him...!" For some reason those words felt... off... like a wound in my chest... am I jealous? 

"It doesn't matter, Sunny! Basil fucking murdered Kel! Now let's go!" "What? He murdered him? I refuse to believe you!" "Sunny! Come on let's go!" We head to the front door and as soon as I unlock it I see Basil. 

He had bloody gardening sheers in his hands. And his clothes were stained with blood.
