"Did you see the size of that thing?" You exclaim to Tan as you both climb into the back of Black Betty to start packing away the equipment from today.

"Aw, scared?" He looks over at you with a grin, bumping your shoulder with his as you work away.

"Yes, actually!" You say with a laugh, sitting down on the bench as you wind up a length of tactical rope. "Terrified is how I'd put it."

He stops, looking over at you with furrowed brows and an unimpressed expression. "It was a lizard."

"A fucking huge one!" You hold up your hands in a move to show how truly horrifying the pet of the target you'd arrested today was, but all you succeed in doing is tangling your hands in the mess of black cord. Tan laughs at your antics, and kneels down in front of you.

"So you can stare down assault rifles day in and day out with no problem, but a scaly little animal is enough to send you running?" He questions as he carefully unknots the rope, freeing your hands as he shakes his head.

"When it looks like it could swallow me whole, yes!" You nod emphatically. "It does!"

He casts the rope to the side, leaning up with a smile to press a kiss to your scrunched-up nose. "I'll keep you safe. Swear."

"Aw, my hero." You say, pretending not to blush as you turn away. "Come on, if we don't get this cleaned up soon it'll be Hondo and Luca you'll be keeping us safe from."
