There's a cold breeze in the air, one that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on edge and slips down the collar of your jacket no matter how tightly you pull it around you. Gooseflesh pebbles your skin but does little to keep you warm. Flexing your numbing fingers in your pockets, you're just about ready to throw in the towel and head back to the car - until another set of hands slip in next to yours, accompanied by a warm body pressing against your back and a warm breath ghosting across the back of your neck.
"Cold?" You can feel the smile on Victor's face as he nuzzles into your neck. And even if you couldn't, it'd be evident in the humorous tone in his voice.
Humming in acknowledgment, you lean back against him. His fingers weave themselves in with yours within the confines of your pockets, not in the least perturbed by the cold of your hands as he pulls you against him.
"A little, but m' warming up nicely."
He chuckles, pressing a kiss to your neck. "I'm glad."
"So am I." You smile. The breeze sways you both gently, and you cast a wary glance down at the rocky precipice you're stood on. Pebbles and dust coast over the edge and tumble down the valley wall, not quite putting you at ease.
The rumble of the car engine a slight distance away catches your attention.
"Remind me why we couldn't be doing this in the car?"
Tan smiles against your neck, hands squeezing your own comfortingly. "I've been wanting to get you up here for ages, you know that. And you can only see so much from the car, babe."
Even if you don't want to, you have to agree with him. Though the drive up here led you up rough dirt roads and through dense woodlands, the view is like nothing you've ever seen before - LA stretches out before you, blinking lights and sprawling streets as far as the eye can see. You can pick out some smaller details, the strobe lights of Dodgers' Stadium beaming far up into the darkening sky and making it easy to find - unlike the smooth surface of the marina some distance away, reflecting all those lights back at you tenfold.
Noticing the unfocused look in your eyes, Victor smiles to himself. Though he knew that he really didn't have anything to fear by bringing you here, it still warmed his heart to see you appreciate it so much.
"The view is something else, isn't it?" He muses quietly, turning his head to look at you. You nod, drawing your joined hands from your pockets so you can twist around and face him. His hands find purchase on your hips, pushing under the seam of your jacket to squeeze softly at your hips.
"Oh, it definitely is", you reply, looking slowly from the city to him before you finish your sentence. "But I definitely prefer this one."
A blush tints his cheeks, one that brings a grin to your face and a sheepishness to his own. Laughing, you brush at a reddening cheek with your thumb.
"See? I've got you warming up already."
