Carson Adler has to be one of the most annoying people I've ever met.
From the moment we got paired for that assignment, I knew she was going to get on my nerves like everyone else. Except, she does to the point where I feel like my head is going to explode. Every part of her displeases me, and down to the last detail. It annoys me so much that I pay more attention to her and less to things that are crucial.
Her dark blue eyes always squint slightly when she shows her contagious smile. But it's her eyes that I easily get lost in, almost like I'm in a trance. Her boisterous laugh and the excited little claps she does when she finds anything amusing is irritating by itself. Not to mention when her hips sway when she walks, like she wants all the attention on her. And the way she flips her long, brown hair back when it covers her chiseled collarbone. Even though I'm saying all of this, it doesn't take much for me to be attentive only to her.
Past her body language, her personality alone is that of someone who cares for others more than herself. Someone who makes sure others are smiling before she has the chance to worry about whether she is happy or not.
All of those things make up who Carson Adler is, and quite frankly it's too much for me to handle. And I'll say it again; she's one of the most annoying people I've ever met.
So, why...
Why am I falling in love with her?
Before her, my life was the same routine I had gotten so used to. She messed with that and showed me things way out of my comfort zone.
And I think I liked that a bit more than I planned to.
Carson Adler is like a ray of sunshine who appeared like clockwork in my life. Specifically, the annoying kind that you shield your eyes from with the back of your hand. But eventually, once you get used to that ray, little by little you open your fingers to let the light shine through.
Carson Adler is that sunshine.
My sunshine.
She's the only face I look forward to seeing at this Thanksgiving party, and as I step through the front door, I immediately start searching for her. The host of this party is most likely well-off considering the apartment building and the large balcony just ahead.
I feel my whole world stop when I spot her across the room. She's with her friends, with a beer in hand and a face full of bliss.
I step through the crowd of people, nodding my head to acknowledge the people who greet me. But I just want to get to her.
Her friend, Aspen, points past her shoulder in my direction. Carson's face drops as she searches for me in the crowd, and once she sees me, she flashes her gorgeous smile.
She gestures for me to come join her and I dodge the people dancing the best I can just to make it over to her. Carson, along with her friends, are standing just near the balcony.
