chapter 5: new friends, old enemies

When we got back Nero took Viktor and threw him in his van, when he left I told dad everything, including the armor and voice, he was more interested about the voice, and what it told me, I told him it helped me fight, but for some reason he didn't like it, like it was something I couldn't trust, "what do you think it could be dad?" I ask, "I'm not sure, it could be your demon powers reacting to your trauma, that's how I got my powers, but I can't be sure until we know more." 'THE SON OF SPARDA DOESN'T TRUST HIS OWN CHILD.' the voice says, I grab my head, "shut up!" I say, I look at dad and he's surprised, "sorry, not you dad, it spoke to me again, it said-" I look away from dad, why don't want to tell him, "it said you don't trust me." I say, "then it doesn't know me, I trust this whole family, even Vergil and that's saying something." Dad says, we all laugh and I even see Vergil crack a smile, "your right, but if this thing thinks you don't trust me, does that mean its not my demon powers?" I asked, "maybe, it could be speaking to you through your powers, but unless it wants to talk we won't know." He says, I sigh and scratch my head, what's wrong with this voice, it helps me but then tries to manipulate me, I don't know if I can trust it, I feel a tap on my arm and turn around to see Leo, "I gotta go, its already late." I lay in bed and wondering if Leo was upset about today, he kinda has a right to be, he confessed to me and our date was ruined, how did mom and dad have time to date with this job, 'WELL THEY ARE BOTH DEMON HUNTERS.' the voice says, 'are you just going to chime in whenever its convenient?' I ask, 'NO JUST WHEN I WANT TO.' it says 'for a voice in my head your an asshole.' I say 'AND WHAT FOES THAT SAY ABOUT YOU?' it asks, I sigh and roll over in bed, 'LEO IS TOO KIND A PERSON TO HOLD GRUDGES.' it says 'Shut the- wait you, you are trying to help me?' I say, 'YES.' 'then why did you say my dad didn't trust me?" I ask 'I WAS CURIOUS AS TO WHAT WOULD HAPPEN.' it says, 'fuck you, if your done being a prick tell me what you are.' I say, 'ITS COMPLICATED, BUT IF I HAD TO PUT IT INTO WORDS, I WAS A DEMON WHO HAS NOW MERGED WITH YOU AND I AM NOW YOUR OTHER SELF.' he explains, 'other self, like my demon?' I ask 'YES, YOU COULD SAY I AM YOUR DEMON.' it says, 'but how?' 'WHEN MY CONSCIOUSNESS FIRST AWOKE, I COULD NOT FEEL MY BODY, BUT I SAW THROUGH YOUR EYES AND FEEL YOUR EMOTIONS, AND YOUR PAIN, I WAS YOU, BUT ALSO ME, AND AFTER YEARS, YOUR DEMON FOR NEVER MANIFESTED, SO WHEN I SAW YOU WOULD DIE, I ACTED AND SPOKE TO YOU.' it said, 'you and I are one, we are the same person with different minds.' I say, 'do you have a name?' I ask, '...yes' it says quieter, 'you sound worried.' I say, 'I FEAR YOU WILL NOT TRUST ME IF I TELL YOU, BUT I DO NOT WISH TO HIDE MYSELF AGAIN, I AM BEOWULF.' he says, "what?!" I say, "QUIET FOOL, YOU WILL WAKE THEM!' he warns, i go quiet and listen for footsteps but I hear nothing, 'sorry, but your my weapons, wait no your more than that, my uncle killed you, how are you alive again?' I ask 'I ONLY KNOW HOW IM PART OF YOU, NOT WHY IM PART OF YOU, IM SORRY.' he says 'oh well can't help it I suppose.' I say, I yawn and close my eyes, 'I'll tell dad about it tomorrow, don't worry, since your part of me you'll be fine, night wulf.' I say, 'WULF?' he asks, 'your names too long so get used to the nickname.' I say.

(Time skip)

Dad was, well he wasn't happy about wulf, but he wasn't mad, I honestly don't know how to describe how he felt about this, but he went back to normal real quick afterwards, "listen, as long as he helps you in fights, and he doesn't plan on doing anything, I'll consider being nice about rent." Dad says, 'AND I THOUGHT DYING WAS THE WORST PART OF MY LIFE.' wulf says, I laugh and dad gives me a look, "sorry, he was being a smartass, he might have got that from me." I say, 'I'VE BEEN WITH YOU FOR YEARS I GOT IT FROM YOU WHOLE FAMILY.' wulf says, I laugh again and dad looks like he gives up on the conversation, "whatever we're going after the cult today, so grab your jacket bud." Dad says, I take my coat off the coat rack and put in on as Vergil walks in, "everything ready?" Dad asks, "yes we're just waiting on you." Vergil says, we walk out the door and get into the van, I see Viktor tied up looking scared, I look around and see trish watching Viktor, nero and nico in the front, and dad siting on the couch, I enter with Vergil behind me, "alright let's go." Vergil says, "wait what about mom?" I ask, "oh yeah, she got morning sickness so she's saying home." Dad says, I look down a little upset but I understand, we drive in the direction of hell's gate,
