Chapter 3: a day to relax

The day after we got the name of the man who's been recruiting people, we were still stumped as to were to go from here, I walked downstairs after a shower, I'm just wearing my pants and boots, I see dad on the phone, "anything yet pop?" I ask, "no, bastard never answers, we might have to go to him." Dad says, we've been trying to call Morrison all day but the old bastard won't pick up the phone, "well nero and nico are out right now maybe they can run by and talk to him." I say, "maybe I'll ask them." Dad says, I lay down on the couch and close my eyes, "wake me up if we get something." I say,

(Dante's POV) (time skip)

Nero agreed to go talk to Morrison, I think anyway, he and Nico were arguing about something I didn't care about, so I couldn't hear him to well, I look over to Sparda and see him sleeping he's come a long way since he was eighteen, he use to train on his own to try and get his powers, and anytime he couldn't do something he'd get right back up and try even harder, I wonder if I would have been the same if my old man stayed around,

The front door opened and the bell rung I look at the door and see a young man standing there looking around, he looked younger than Sparda, "welcome to devil may cry, you got demon problems?" I ask, "uh no, I don't know if you remember me, but someone named Sparda saved me yesterday." He says, I think for a moment, a guy Sparda saved yesterday, then it hits me, "oh yeah you were the guy hugging Sparda." I say, the guy scratched the back of his head and looks away, "yeah I was uh, overwhelmed?" He says, I look back to Sparda and look at the guy, guess he can't see him,

"Anyway I wanted to know if I could take him out as a thank you for saving me." He says, I look left and see a plastic soda bottle on my desk, "let me get I'm for you." I say, I grab the bottle and throw it Sparda,

(Sparda's POV)

I jerk awake and see a bottle on my lap, "the hell dad?" I say, I sit up and look at him, "You got a visitor." Dad says pointing at the door, I look to the front door and see the young man from yesterday, "hey, your the guy from yesterday." I say, "uh h-hi, I uh" "he wanted to thank you for yesterday." Dad finished for him, "oh, hey you don't have to thank me, it's part of my job." I say, "please let me take you out, a-as a thank you." He says, "Nero won't get back to us anytime soon, go have fun bud." Dad says, "well, if you insist, let me grab my jacket." I say, I walk upstairs and into my room, I close the door slightly and grab my coat off the door hook, I wall out of my room and run into mom, "going somewhere hon?" She asked, "yeah, just going to hang out with someone." I say, I put on my coat and make sure my wallet is in the pocket, I walk to the guy and turn back to dad, "don't wait up." I say, me and the guy leave together and start walking,

We haven't been walking for long but he hasn't anything to me since we left, "so you gonna tell me your name?" I ask, the guy stops and I stop with him, I look at him and it looks like he just saw someone get shot, "oh my god I'm so sorry, I asked you out and I never even told you my name, I'm such an idiot!" The guy says, "whoa dude calm down, your not an idiot, as far as I know anyway, so just chill out okay." I say, "o-okay, sorry, uh I'm leo Coleman." He says, "see wasn't that hard, was it." I say, "yeah, I guess." He says, "come on let's get something to eat, I'm starving." I say, "yeah, there's a really good restaurant a few blocks away." Leo says, "let's not go all out here." I say "huh?" He asks, "we don't need to go to a fancy restaurant, let's just go a fast food place, come on." I say, "w-well, okay, if that's what you want." He says, "hey I'm just trying to save you money, don't want you to go broke cuz a date." I say, I look at him and he's blushing, "d-d-date?" He asks, "well yeah, you did say you asked me out right?" I ask, his blush gets worse and he looks at the ground, "hey hey, I'm sorry, come on I'll buy us some sundae's if that makes you feel better." I say, "hey, I'm not a child." He says,

Leo and I were walking down the street sundea's in hand, cuz I wanted one anyway, leo was more talkative after my teasing which is nice, but he's still really shy and stuttering which isn't that bad, but he seems more comfortable around me, we finish our sundea's and throw the cups away, we turn a corner and I feel a presence behind us, and this isn't a coincidence, over felt this ever since we hit this part of town, I think fast and put my arm around leo and pull him close to me, "S-Sparda." Leo says surprised, "act natural, were being followed." I say, leo looks scared and moves closer to me, we turn into an alley and reach a dead end,

I turn around and look down an empty alley, "come out, I know your here." I say, two men round the corner and enter the alley, "your smart bud, but now your cornered, so make this easier for us." One guy says, "what do you want from me, you asshole's work for Viktor?" I ask, I cant sense demon energy from these two so I can't tell, "who? Whatever just give us everything you go!" One guy says, "so your just trying to rob us, you don't work for the demon summoning cult?" I ask, the two men look at each other and back at me, "no, the fuck are you talking about?" They ask, "okay then, makes my job easier." I say, I pull out one of my guns and aim it at them, the two men jump back scared, "whoa whoa bud, calm down, how bout we just leave and we all forget about this?" He asks, "I have a better idea, how bout you two leave stop mugging people and get real jobs, or I could just shoot you both now, I win either way." I say, "okay okay, we'll leave we're sorry." One guy says, the men run off and I holster my gun, I turn back to leo, "you okay, your not to shaken up are you?" I ask, "no, I'm okay, to be honest I wasn't that worried, I remember how you delt with that demon before and I knew I was safe, cuz your really strong." He says, I scratch the back of my head and feel my face get hot, I look back at him and see him blushing slightly,

We wall out of the alleyway and I look up to see it already sunset, "hey, where do you live, I'll take you home." I say, "56 avenue on the north side." Leo says, "really, that's not that far from devil may cry." I say, "yeah, but you guys don't advertise well, that's why it took me a day to find the shop." Leo says, "yeah, we don't usually need to advertise, we get most of our jobs from our informant Morrison." I say, "maybe you guys can get more jobs if you advertise." Leo says, "well dad tried to advertise for the shop one time and people thought he was some kind of exorcism company, for some reason." I say, leo laughs and i smile at him, I like hearing his laugh, I wrap my arm around leo and pull him close,

We made it to leo's house and I let him go, he turns to me with a blush, "I uh, I had a great time." Leo says, "me to." I say, I give leo a hug and he hugs me back, we let each other go and leo holds his hand out, I take what's in his hand I look at it, its a number, "call me when you wanna go out again." He says, "yeah of course." I say, leo give me one more hug then goes into his house, yeah I had fun, I turn and start walking home, a little ways away from leo's house Nero's can pulls up beside me and the door opens revealing Nero, "Sparda get in we found something." Nero says, "what is it?" I ask, "don't know but Morrison is worried, and that always means something bass going on." Nero says,

I hop in the van and we drive to devil may cry, what could be so bad that Morrison is worried?
