The morning sunlight always seemed to find its way through the blinds. It woke Shayne who slowly opened his eyes to see Courtney in front of him wrapped in his arms. He couldn't help but smile and place kisses all over her neck until she too woke up and turned her head to meet his eyes.
"Morning, Shayney," she giggled softly.
"Morning."
Three months ago, the two of them started dating. Not much changed between them when it came to their relationship though things were more official now.
"God, I love waking up next to you," Courtney turned her body, pressing her bare chest against his. The comfort she felt laying next to him in bed was like she never felt before. Of course, it could have been because of his muscles but she felt, even under his chisled body, a sense of warmth and softness.
"Me too," he mumbled into her golden hair as he held her tightly. They stayed like that for a while, neither of them wanted to move but they knew they had to.
"As much as I'd like to stay here with you, we should get up and get ready for work," Courtney attempted to release herself from his grip but he pulled her back. She laughed at him as she struggled more. "Shayne!"
"Don't gooooo..." He groaned like a child with a big smile on his face. She eventually untangled herself and sat on her legs. She stared down at him with admiration in her eyes as he opened his.
"You're so cute," she said. She leaned down and gave him a kiss before getting out of the bed and stretching her arms. "Come on, baby, get up."
"Fine." He slid out of the bed and put on his boxers and pants from the previous night leaving his shirt on the floor where it was thrown. "You want some coffee?"
"Sure. Thanks."
He left the room and she watched as he did. Something inside of her mind still couldn't believe that she was with him. They'd known each other for seven years and only ever acted as friends. Though they probably had no other choice because of their Defy contracts. Now things were different. WAY different.
She left her room and found Shayne in the kitchen. She slipped on Shayne's shirt and wore just that as she entered the kitchen and wrapped her arms around his waist.
"You know, it's usually frowned upon to walk into work with just a shirt on," he said as he finished pouring a cup of coffee. She merely sighed at his comment and continued to rest her cheek on his back.
"I know. I'm gonna shower before I actually get dressed," she said. He turned around and handed her a mug. She took a sip and signed contently. "But you're not getting this shirt back."
"I didn't think I would," he chuckled. She had always liked his rainbow button-up shirt that he wore to her birthday party the year before. She'd been waiting for a chance to steal it from him. "I should head home and shower too. You want me to come and pick you up?"
"Yeah. I'd get to spend more time alone with you."
"By the way, are we ever going to tell anyone about us?"
"Eventually, yeah. But I don't think I'm ready yet. Once I am, we can tell whoever we want." As much as she liked the idea of hugging and kissing Shayne in front of her friends, she knew she wasn't ready to tell them and have them freak out over the news. That and the fact that she wasn't sure how they'd react to knowing that they had been secretly getting together before.
"Okay, I was just curious. I'm not rushing or anything," he shrugged. "Anyway, I better get going. Though I kinda need that."
"Fine." She reluctantly returned the shirt to Shayne and replaced it with another shirt and that was similar in size and he laughed at her.
