Dauntless-Born

Chapter 5

I call Four into the bathroom. My hands are sweaty and shaky. Our lives could change forever.

Four comes in and we flip the test over together on the count of three.

Positive.

I stand, frozen. Like when Four proposed. After it sinks in, I jump up and down like crazy. I hug Four as hard as I can. 

"We are having a baby!" I say into his chest. I can feel his heartbeat, beating fast with excitement. 

When I let go of him, he gets on one knee and kisses my abdomen. This causes us both to cry. I hug him again as we giggle through tears. 

We go to the doctor to confirm, and I am pregnant.

Visiting day is soon, and I am planning on going to Abnegation with Four to tell my parents. He said he didn't want to talk to his father, so we will just visit my parents. The past three years in Dauntless have been the most fun I've had in my life, but I miss my family all the time. They also deserve to know what's happening in my life.

We get back to the apartment and talk about the baby. I obviously don't have a bump yet, but we know there's a baby there.

"Oh! Let's go tell Christina and Will!" I say, halfway out the door.

We practically run to their apartment to deliver the news. I burst through the door. Christina and Will are making out.

"Jesus, Tris! Knock next time!" Christina yells.

"Yeah, but this is important," I say.

"What is it?" she asks.

I look at Four and in unison, we say, "We're having a baby!"

"That's so exciting! Congrats!" Christina replies.

"Our babies have a friend already!" Will says.

To this, Christina and I bump our stomachs together. She is already starting to show a little bit.

"You guys want to come with us to tell Zeke, Shauna, Marlene, Lynn, and Uriah?" asks Four.

"Yeah! I don't think we've told them about us yet, so we'll tell them too," Christina responds.

The four of us walk to their apartment, which they all share. Will knocks on the door and Shauna answers.

"Oh hey guys! Haven't seen you in a while, besides the wedding," says Shauna.

"Christina and I have something to tell you all," I say.

"We're pregnant!"

The five of them erupt into chatter and start to give us hugs. I have always been closer to all of them than Christina, so I get more hugs and Christina gets more 'congratulations' and 'that's so exciting.'

After everyone settles down, we head back to our apartment and go to sleep for the night.
