I may not have been eager to find my mate sure, but i was still a female nonetheless and a sucker for romance. In my mind, from the many mated couples i witnessed, the encounter with my mate had seemed a lot more romantic. Definitely not how the reality was.
To say i was hurt would be an understatement. Not to mention that i was beyond attracted to my mate but unfortunately for me, the feeling was not reciprocated. Rather he seemed to be more repulsed by my sight than anything else. Was i this bad looking? I mean the guy had to cut me some slack; i just spent 12 days in the wild so it was not fair to expect i would be looking like a princess with my double sized puffy ball gown topped with a sleek chic hair updo.
" I am still waiting for an explanation" he reminded me of his question earlier, his stare still stone cold as he awaited my response.
The wolves around him all stood tall and proud as they watched my every movements.A hair-raising sensation creeped up to my neck as the sound of his voice reached my ears, breaking me out of the trance i was stuck in.
" I did not realize i had stepped onto claimed territory" i said sheepishly, not because i was intimidated but because i knew they would not believe me and yet it was the truth.
" Do you know the consequences of lying ? That too to me ?" he spat with a slight raise to his tone that made me shiver.
" I am not lying. Why would i need to?" i retorted with a question, to which he raised his right eyebrow.
" Let's see, for one because you may be a spy, looking for information and the list goes on. You are not the first one to have entered my territory and claimed to have been mistaken" he said as matter of fact.
I figured this would take quite a while before i actually convince him i was not a spy or anything like that.
A big sigh left my lips as i looked at my surrounding in exasperation.
" Listen, i'm not a spy ok? I come from the Redwood pack and i was on my way to uhh some other pack. Somehow i lost myself and ended up here, i don't even know where i am" i finished, hoping he would believe me. Of course i could not tell him the real reason for my departure from the Redwood pack, so hopefully for me he would buy the lie.
His one eyebrow raised to my revelation, his expression showing nothing else as he examined me further. His stare and presence were rather intimidating, i am not gonna lie.
" Check her" he simply ordered and all of a sudden two large pair of hands grabbed me from behind as one red-haired woman appeared before me, checking me everywhere.
" Hey !! Stop this! You have no right to touch me !!" i shouted and tried to wriggle myself out of their hold but in vain. The woman dug her hands in my back and front jean pockets, my jacket and even in my shoes. Next, they snatched the backpack i was carrying and spilled out the contents inside.
" Alpha, we found this" said the woman as she neared my mate with my spice concoction and the other weapons Isaac had given me in her hands .
A sweat trickled my forehead as she held the 'silver syringe pen'. If they found out i was in possession of silver, they would suspect me. Silver was lethal to werewolves and right now, i had in my possession the only thing that could terminate their existence. Well, correction, it was no longer in my possession as i watch my mate analyzing the objects very closely. It would not take long for him to realize-
" HOW THE HELL DO YOU HAVE SILVER ??!" he furiously barged at me, the pen still in his hand.
That was quick.
In a matter of seconds he reached me and stood only inches away from me, his manly cologne invading my nostrils preventing fresh oxygen to enter. His close proximity was doing nothing but increase my nervousness. Not to mention the mate bond and his scent were not really helping either.
