I was so absorbed in the readings that i failed to realize night already fell and supper was soon to be served. The only light i received was the silver glow of the crescent moon through the huge windows.
With a sigh, i closed the grimoire and stood up, ready to leave this dusty room. There was barely any light and i did not want to stick around further to have the misfortunate possibility of encountering crawling insects or worse, spiders. I was not afraid of them per se, but with the darkness making me almost visually impaired, i would rather not take the risk.
My plans of leaving unnoticed was compromised when i sensed a powerful presence looming in the shadows. I already knew who it was and despite knowing it was no stranger, my heart made no effort to rest its rapid beats.
Slow vibrating growls approached me and all i could do was back away, holding the grimoire closer to my heart as if it would save me. No one could save me from him.
" What are you doing here?" I asked staring at the darkness in front of me. I had no idea where to look, i could not even see him, yet i knew he was here. And every minute that passed, he got closer to where i stood.
" I should be the one asking that" he replied in his usual husky menacingly low tone. His voice was so sexy, i could already feel the wetness down there.
Clearing my throat, i tried to come up with an excuse. I could not exactly tell him i was fishing for information on his traumatic past. Surely that would not end well.
" I wanted to read, i was bored so i found this place which i assume was the library and well the rest is history" i rushed my words, clearly showing how nervous i was. I bit my lip awaiting his response but i was left with his slow breath intakes.
" No offense but i don't think your palace lacks of personnel. This place is in dire need of a deep clean. Apart the creepy vibes it gives off as well, the place is a solid 4 star" i stated, trying to divert his attention from my nervousness.
" How did you find this place, you should not be here" ignoring my comments, his tone grew darker and i assumed he did not want me to end up here. ' Too bad' i mentally winced.
" Didn't you listen, i just said i found it while roaming the halls" i rolled my eyes.
He growled at my sarcasm and upon instinct i pushed further into the desk that was behind me, the edge slightly hurting my lower back.
" Listen pup and listen well, i do not want you here again, this part of the palace is off limits. Did i make myself clear?" He was now even closer, just at the edge of the shadow hiding him. One inch further and the moonlight will give me a glimpse of his gorgeous face.
Up until now i had not realized how much i wanted to see him. It was more than a week since i last saw his face and to be frank, all i needed was a good look at him then i would be set for another week. I guess that was our relationship now, us taking glances of each other for a week's worth of comfort. At least on my part that was the case, for him i'm not so sure.
" Excuse me? Who are you calling pup?" my voice now raised, a deep contrast to the hushed words i spoke prior.
" Is there anyone else besides the two of us?"
My eyes shot daggers at the shadow in front of me, hands balling into fists.
" I am no pup, so don't you dare insult me Darian" the nervousness now fully dissipating.
A growled of satisfaction erupted from him at the sound of his name and a tingly sensation shot through me.
"Hmm, what are you then?" he urged, mischief lacing his velvety voice. The tip of his shoes escaped the shadow, giving me a brief glance of his form but his face was still fully concealed from my hungry eyes.
